Friday Favorites Young Pioneers

Happy May Day sweet friends! It my favorite day of the week when fabulous people are lifted up and the spotlight shines on good things I have recently experienced. Here’s to Friday Favorites Young Pioneers.

Friday Favorites Young Pioneers

As many of you know this past week I traveled to the Missouri Cherry Blossom Festival. Several stars were in attendance~ Mary Badham/Scout from To Kill A Mockingbird, Karolyn Grimes/Zuzu from It’s A Wonderful Life… There was also another talented actress and singer that I hoped to see: Linda Purl. She has long been on my must meet wish list.

In 1976 Purl had starred in Young Pioneers based on Rose Wilder Lane’s book, Let the Hurricane Roar. It was produced by Ed Friendly and writer Blanche Hanalis of Little House on the Prairie fame. You can find Young Pioneers and Young Pioneers Christmas on DVD as well as on YouTube. If you’ve never watched these movies, you are in for a treat.

Young Pioneers

I liked Ms. Purl instantly. She was warm, kind and so very gracious.

Laura and Linda Purl

I learned that she and actor Patrick Duffy (Dallas/Step By Step) have created a line of take and bake sourdough loaves, Duffy’s Dough. Amazingly 100% of the profits go toward hunger relief. That says so much to me about her and Mr. Duffy’s character. The line is carried by several supermarket chains.

Both Linda Purl and Patrick Duffy remain active in their careers and I am excited to see what they do next.

I’ve just ordered Ms. Purl’s new book A Peak Behind the Curtain – An Actress’ Life on the Road and can’t wait to read it.

A Dreamy Home In Denmark

This lovely kitchen, in an equally enchanting home, seems like the perfect place to bake bread. The classic blue and off-white color palette, wood paneling and brass details create a calm, welcoming feel.

Pressed Flower Notecard

Pioneers would often pick and press flowers to slip between the pages of precious books that were brought along on their perilous journeys. This DIY tutorial on creating gorgeous handmade notecards features wonderful step by step images.

This may contain: an altered book page with flowers on it

A Haven In Hampshire

This beautiful cottage, located in Hampshire, England, is full of lush layers and charming antiques.

This weekend my family and I are attending a birthday party for my daughter in laws 90+ year old grandmother. I adore Olga and want to make her something special. This recipe for lemon posset looks perfect.

This may contain: small desserts with berries and cream on a yellow platter next to raspberries
