Holiday Decor and More
Earlier this season I shared my touch of tartan home tour and the Colonial Williamsburg inspired decor in the living room.
Since the dining room and living room are part of one great space I am carrying over the Williamsburg theme into this area to create a cohesive look.

The only new item I’ve added to the dining area are these toile mini lampshades.
The big decorating trend this season is Ralph Lauren Christmas. Many of the key elements of this design have been in place for centuries.

The plaids, toiles, embroidered linens, silver, and evergreens were also used in the early Colonial and Georgian eras.

You can never go wrong with traditional decor at any time of the year!

In the 18th century the fruits, nuts and spices on the table would have indicated great wealth and been a very special gift.

Many of the treasures on this table are family heirlooms or estate sale finds.

On December 20th I will be hosting an 18th century Georgian era tea. All of my fun costuming friends will be attending in their circa 1770s fashions.

I’ve created Georgian era place cards that I will add my guests names to along with a bit of glitter.

Feel free to save the image above to your computer by right clicking on the design to save it. (This is for personal use only.)

Snow white linens were a hallmark of this era as it was easier to launder. Items that were enhanced with natural dyes could often bleed and transfer their color.

A Little House Tea Set
Over on the sideboard is something very special.

It is a silver tea set that joins the traditional pyramid (cone) decor often found in Colonial Williamsburg during the holidays. You can make your own with tips from the book

The silver tea set was given to me by my sweet friend Wendi Lou Lee. She played Baby Grace on the Little House on the Prairie television show.

Michael Landon gave the silver to her mother, Jackie, the first Christmas they were on set.

It is deliciously heavy and intricate. Wendi is currently working in the ministry field and has no space for it. She felt I would enjoy being the caretaker of this treasure. She is so right!
But while I love the tea set, it is the lovely memories I have of Wendi and her mom, Jackie, that are associated with it that truly bring joy to my heart. You can find Wendi’s new interactive 12 week devotional, Story by Story HERE.

Ponyboy, the longhaired dachshund, and I hope you have enjoyed this tour.

This reminds me that I haven’t cleaned/polished my silver in far too long! It’s beautiful, Laura. I love all the touches and I suspect I will be making those topiary trees for next year’s fall sale! I love so many tree cones, it’s a shame not to use them!
Thank you dear Jeanie. Yes, I think you could make the tree cones for several different holidays and seasons! Send me photos. 🙂
So beautiful, Laura! I love all your tradition items from the dishes to the silver and those pretty lampshades! How nice to have a collection of family heirlooms to mix in with your decor. And your sweet Ponyboy completes the room! Merry Christmas and thanks for hosting us!

Laura where do I start? The oranges and cloves send me immediately back to childhood and fond memories of the holidays! Mmmm…. I can almost smell them from here. The classic touches of tradition with engraved silver and red and white china are a perfect pair! And don’t think I don’t see those monogrammed napkin rings, just like mine! LOL Thank you so much for sharing your Christmas decor! It’s fabulous my friend!
Laura, how special that your friend Wendi gave you that gorgeous tea set. I know you love and will treasure it. I have a few pieces of red transferware as well. There is something beautiful about vintage dishes that I cannot get enough of. Your home looks lovely for the holiday.
Just beautiful! You know I love all of the colonial and Georgian touches mixed in with your beautiful collectibles. You always set the most beautiful tables! I am loving your Christmas decor so much this year!
Merry Christmas!
Laura,
Your beautiful Tea set is a showstopper! I love that silver is trending, I am here for it!. It reminds me of my Aunt Maggie, who had the most exquisite silver collection. She only brought it out for the holidays, and I was always so excited to see it. Thank you for putting this hop together and for inviting me. I have loved seeing everyone’s Christmas Inspiration. Happy Holidays, my friend!
Such a beautiful table! From the toilet shades to the adorable placecards, I love all of the creative details that you have added. And your tea set? Wow! Grogeous! Thank you so much for organizing this hop. I always love seeing the inspiration of everyone! Wishing you Happy Holidays!
