Hello sweet friends! Welcome to the October edition of the Pinterest Challenge. The fabulous Cindy of County Road 407 hosts this monthly event. If you are coming from Lora Bloomquist let me say, “Welcome to Storybook Cottage”. Her birch branch centerpiece so inspired me. Today’s post here on DTA features Natural Accents For Your Fall Decor.
Natural Accents For Your Fall Decor
This month the challenge was to create a vignette with tree stumps. Our inspiration photo comes from Jeanne at Cozy, Stylish & Chic.
The cozy image features:
- Birch logs
- Votive candles
I’m Stumped
In terms of tree branches and stumps there are no shortage of either here at Storybook Cottage. We have 16 oak trees in our garden and at least one is always in need of a tree trimming.
However when I shared the above image to my resident handyman he said ” I will make you the stumps. But you will absolutely NOT place real flame votives on or inside the stumps. Particularly for use in decorating the interiors of our home.”
Sometimes that Mr. Decor can be a real bear.
A Cozy Creation
I accepted Mr. Decor’s offer to create the wooden branch pedestals. (That sounds fancier than tree stumps. Smile.)
Mr. Decor could take no issue with the wood pedestals being surrounded by lit votives in mercury glass containers.
The wooden pedestals were topped off with all manner of gourds.
Such a cozy centerpiece!
Wood You Lift Me Up
Mr. Decor cut a lot of wood pedestals.
So I added some to the mantel and created a centerpiece for the coffee table.
On the mantle I draped fairy lights over the pedestals instead of using votives. I love the cozy vibe in the evenings.
Be sure to visit all of the wonderful links below for more inspiring decor.
Tomorrow I’ll be traveling back in time to Salem, 1692.

Laura the oak pedestals are so clever for elevating those cute pumpkins! Your fall vignettes remind me of the brown bark flameless candles I spotted recently at PB. Love your beautiful tablescape and the mantel!

Love all your rustic, woodsy autumn displays with the log chunks. And love that you coordinated several spots with the same. Your color palette is my fave-aquas and greens and looks perfect paired with the rustic, natural touchs.

Oh yes, pedestals sound much nicer than stumps. LOL! I should go back and revise my post. 😉 Love the look with the pumpkins on top. And the added color is so pretty. Glad you could join us. pinned. Hope you are enjoying the season. I am not! I want it to be much cooler. Mother Nature needs to take a harmony pill and get with the program!

Hubbies can be so ornery at times lol! Love how you ran with the wood pedestals idea, and the placement of your pumpkins and votive candles makes a gorgeous centerpiece! Pinned xx

This looks amazing! Your blue & green pumpkins are such a fun take on fall decor. I am behind on decorating this year because I have been waiting until after we had our carpets cleaned to break out the decorations. I will totally be using this as inspiration!

I just caught a glimpse of your hutch and I’d love to see more. I’ve wanted one for a long time. However I’m not a fan of the usual dark wood tone. TY in advance.
