Creating rooms in your home that feel somehow lighter can help get you through a long, hot summer. This includes the bedroom which can be easily transformed into a summertime retreat. Summer Bedroom Decorating Ideas.

Simply removing excess blankets, pillows and other accessories give a room a lighter feel.
Using soft colors and adding in a pretty bouquet of garden flowers can also work wonders.
But the sunny season is also a good time to have fun. Bright, festive prints can happily provide a summertime feel.
Even simply adding in a palm frond or two can provide a room with tropical flair.
Sheer lace panels are a good choice for windows and such. They are reminiscent of old-fashioned mosquito netting which was once a summertime staple.
Summer is the perfect time to indulge in florals.
Just a single pillow or an entire bed covering provides the visual essence of the sweet smell of summertime.
You can also look to iconic designers, such as Lilly Pulitzer when decorating a summertime space. Her bright and happy textiles are the epitome of summertime chic.
Palm Beach style is also a great choice. I wrote a complete post devoted to this style of decorating HERE.
Coastal style makes for such a lovely and peaceful décor.
It can easily go beyond classic blue and white if you want something more.
Having rattan in the bedroom can also create a sweet touch of summer.
This look can be easily incorporated by adding in a shelf or chair.
Nautical style is always a sure winner.
It’s fun to include a balanced variety of the above styles to create a bedroom that makes you feel like you are on vacation all summer long.
What summer style appeals to you?

Hi Laura, Such pretty summer rooms. I love the little twin beds. My older sis and I shared a bedroom growing up and had mahogany twin beds. I currently am using a pale aqua lightweight quilt as a bedspread for summertime.

Hi Laura,
I am in love with Bedroom #1 for sure. Love robins egg blue and the neutrals.
It also reminds me of my daughters bedroom in their new house…..lol
Her set up is very similar with the placement of the bed and the high head
board, and the high white ceilings and window placement. All of the rooms
were gorgeous tho….and thanks for sharing them, always fun to get new
ideas………..
Also Thanks for coming by and for your encouraging comments. Hope you will come
by again soon.
Blessings, Nellie

I've been thinking about lighter colors for the lake house. The interior is knotty pine which I love and we use quilts in all the rooms but some are on the darker side, which look great with the wood but could be a bit lighter. This is good inspiration!

Wow what gorgeous rooms. I agree that lighter and airier rooms really make a difference during the hot summer months. There are many homes in Italy that don't have air conditioning and that really makes things difficult when it's suffocatingly hot outside but a peaceful decor with lots of lace and cotton lightens things up a bit.

Photos #1 and 2 are my favorites. #1 because I love the soft and serene look and #2 because of the country look of red and gold together. Thank you for your post – so motivating! Have a good weekend, Laura. : )

The first bedroom, minus a bit of ruffles, and the one with the iron bed have me swooning. I simply love an invting bedroom. I love to read, relax and nap in my room as well as get a night's sleep.
Thanks, Laura!

As much as I like the coziness of blankets, pillow, comforters etc., during the fall/winter months, there is really something special about the lightness and brightness of a summer bedroom. Thanks for sharing some wonderful examples!
