Our local Boy Scout troop will be placing flags at the veteran’s cemetery.

Memorial Day vs. Veterans Day

Afterward we’re attending a barbeque at a dear friends house. We’ve known one another since our early Air Force days. I’m supposed to bring some sort of side dish or dessert.

A truly sweet treat are these cute BBQ themed cupcakes.

Although this parmesan garlic grilled corn looks so yummy too.

I think I will take these tortellini kabobs as they will travel well.

Memorial Day Decor

I truly love this flag décor made from rolls of burlap ribbon.

If I were hosting I would take inspiration from this patriotic centerpiece.

This memorable tablescape is truly lovely too.

It’s always a smart idea to let guests help themselves. What a darling drink station.

Buffet style meals also make it easier on a hostess. I love the bandana wrapped silverware.

Enjoy the holiday, stay safe and please remember the many men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to insure our freedom.

Thank you for posting the beautiful food and decor ideas! But, even more thanks for posting the chart explaining Memorial Day and Veterans' Day! I see so many comments by people who don't understand the difference.
Good of your Scouts to place the flags!

I love these because you can do double duty with July 4, too! And boy, if you make half those things, it'll be great!

My grandmother called it Decoration Day and unless we decide to go to the lake tomorrow, that's exactly what I'll be doing this weekend — putting geraniums at my parents'/grandparents' cemetery plots. Maybe a cookout, maybe with friends, maybe just us. Loose. Loose is good!

Thank you so much for all the beautiful photos – they are always so motivating. And thank you for the information about the difference between all the holidays (Memorial Day vs. Veteran's Day, etc.). Very helpful. The weekend will be quiet for my husband and I – no parties planned but hopefully a little picnic on Monday for just the two of us (and I will try to use one of those lovely ideas!). Thanks again for your post!
    Love,
    Mary S.
