Welcome to day two of the Inviting Summer Bedrooms tour. It is hosted by my dear friend Marty of A Stroll Thru Life. Several bloggers are sharing wonderful bedroom spaces that are sure to inspire you. My tour contains a fun TWIST! Here is how you can begin Creating A Calm Oasis anywhere.
If you are coming from Pink Peppermint Design I am so glad you are here. I adore the clean neutrals that Tammy used in her room.
Full House
This past week we moved Sweet Guy out of his college dorm and back home for the summer. Mr. Decor is still working from home and the second upstairs bedroom has been converted into his temporary office. We also just received the happy news that the Fashionista has an amazing job opportunity and is returning home to live in Texas!!!
So, she needs a temporary space to work and sleep while she looks for a new place. However, with everyone returning to the nest and two people working from home we were short on space.
Also, since this is a temporary solution I didn’t want to spend much money.
The challenge was set!
The Fashionista needed a place to sleep AND work. It was determined that the sunroom was the best option. The space had received a makeover last fall as a temporary schoolroom. I was actually ready for a change.
Creating A Calm Oasis
A trip to the attic was made and the antique daybed was brought down.
The bed was dressed in various shades of blue and white. I adore a cool color palette in the summertime.
Shopping our home a simple side table was brought in as well as a few accessories.
The tablecloth and pillow collection were removed from the closet to make room for clothes. The decorative screen I often use in my YouTube videos was brought in to create a dressing area. The glass is going to get an update. Unfortunately, this requires some outdoor work and we have had nonstop spring rains.
So a cozy sleeping and dressing area is now in place.
A Big Challenge
On the other end of the room, a big challenge presented itself. A huge entertainment center fills up the wall space. It also provides a ton of storage but it is big.
I wanted to detract from it as well as create a soothing workstation. So I first brought in a portable table found at Ballards years ago. It was last seen in November.
Two wicker chairs brought home from Grandma Joyce’s home provide comfy seating.
Indeed only two things were purchased for the room. They will be used and appreciated even after she moves into her own place soon.
- A set of blue and white striped chair cushions. (HomeGoods $20)
- A blue and white area rug. (At Home $100)
The chairs and the plants are in keeping with the sunroom vibe.
They also nicely fill in the area where a tv used to reside.
There is a big enough surface area for her to comfortably work on.
I hope you have enjoyed this unconventional summer bedroom tour.
Up next is Clean and Scentsible. Jenn has created a soothing space that you will love!

I’m so happy your girl is coming home! You must be over the moon. The new room looks fabulous. I would think she’d just love this make-over. It’s so bright, light and cherry. I hope you’ll share what her new job will be. You know we’re all behind her!

I want to take a trip into your attic! Ours is just filled with crap. Nothing like that fantastical day bed you brought down! Very good ideas. Love how light and airy it is. Happy Spring!

That’s great news that Lou is coming home! I hope that she’ll get to come to some of the DFWCG events. You have made a very inviting space for her. Your antique daybed reminds me so much of the daybed that was in my room when I lived in France. It had a red & white toile bedcover and bolster pillows.

Your sunroom is such a pretty and calm oasis! Your sweet and welcome guest may never want to leave. And the good thing about this, besides having her home with you, is having your beautiful day bed set up and being used. The huge cabinet might have been an issue for some but the way you have set up all your pretty treasures makes it a big bonus as it anchors the pretty chairs and table. Our son has built a room onto his home and is thinking that it will be too much house in a few more years when his daughters graduate. I told him to just wait. They may fly off for a little but they will come back to roost, if only for short visits a place to rest and recoup but you will enjoy the space for years yet. Our children, their friends, their spouses and eventually their children all seem to make their way back eventually. I have a feeling your home is the same and always has a big welcome, a bite to eat and a place to rest their weary heads.
Hope you are having a wonderful week and everyone is staying safe. Thank you for your lovely note. {{{hugs}}}

What a clever makeover for a temporary space. Love what you did with the entertainment centre. The tablecloth on the round table is so pretty – did you find that new or shop your home? Enjoy having a house full!
