Sunday Smiles Hope and Joy

Hello sweet friends! How are YOU? Schools and many businesses are closed here in D/FW. We’ll be sticking close to home and watching our church service on tv. Now, more than ever, people need comfort. So I am so glad that you are here for Sunday Smiles Hope and Joy.

Happy Instagram Accounts

One of my favorite IG accounts is Goodnews Movement. It provides several daily doses of happiness and never fails to renew my faith in humanity.

Another great account flooding the feed with positivity is Upworthy.

Spreading Joy

I hope that I have made you smile. I will try to post something positive on my Instagram and Facebook page everyday.

It’s a good thing to remember that when we feel overwhelmed sometimes the best thing to do is to help someone else. It may sound strange but focusing on someone or something else assists in lowering anxiety.

I am still walking my dog, Gracie, every day. While we normally stop and chat with our older neighbors we are now just waving at them through the window.

Our family has offered to run errands, such as to the grocery store and pharmacy runs, for our neighbors who should avoid public spaces.

We are ordering dinner to go from local mom and pop restaurants to help keep them in business.

My much wiser friend Charlotte has set up her Facebook page so that elderly people/those with compromised immune systems that live alone can check in every day for companionship and care.

Other ideas:

  • Transportation to medical facilities (to avoid public transportation and ride shares)
  • Providing cleaning supplies or essential items to those out of work/income reduced
  • Home-cooked meals
  • Home/Apartment cleaning
  • 1 on 1 phone calls/video chats/ home visits/ companionship
  • Assistance navigating and advocating to social services
  • Child care
  • Pet care

I’ll be back on St. Patrick’s Day with a Happy Spring Home Tour.

Finally, let me leave you with a laugh.

My husband often kids about my eight bins of fabric scraps. (You can see it HERE.) But now with store shelves running empty of toilet paper he is looking differently at my soft cotton collection.

May you have JOY and HOPE!

Laura

I read the fabric scraps comment to my family. Thanks for the good laugh! I planned to use the time to clean out my fabric closet anyway so perhaps my sorting criteria will change!

Stay healthy! I hope Mr D is recovered….
