Saturday Smiles On Target

Earlier this week I took a few moments to make a few “to-do” lists. They included an autumn housekeeping list, a sewing list, and a home improvement list. Were working on the one item on the last list today which means it’s a Saturday Smiles On Target.

An 1830’s Raised Cottage

I don’t often find a home tour where I am enchanted with each and every room. But I could move right into this charming Antebellum home and not change a thing.

A Happy Homecoming

Last weekend was Homecoming at my son’s high school. With a first glance at the photo below, one might think my kid’s a player.

Homecoming

But after overhearing some of his classmates lament they wouldn’t go to Homecoming for lack of a date he told me how bad he felt.

I then shared with him that when I was in high school, during my senior year, a large group of kids attended together just as friends. We all went out to dinner together and danced with one another. That way no dateless friends were left behind. In all honesty, it was the most fun I ever had at a dance.

He came home after that dance and said, “Mom, there were like 20 of us. You were SO right. We all had so much fun! We might do it for prom too.”

The obligatory goofy Zoolander pose.

Saturday Smiles On Target

Did you manage to get anything from the Target 20th Anniversary Collection? To be honest I forgot it was happening and came upon it while shopping for other things. It was disappointing that the collection did not feature anything from Liberty. I remember that collection selling out in minutes!

This Lilly Pulitzer sundress did end up coming home with me.

I also love this Phillip Lim trenchcoat. It’s $70 so I am going to see if I can get it on clearance.

An Artful Smile

Photographer Freddy Fabris has midwestern auto mechanics recreate iconic Renaissance paintings. This is sure to bring a smile.

I can’t wait to try out several recipes in this collection of 50 Warm and Cozy Fall Dinner Recipes.

Have a wonderful weekend!

This is so, so common in the Northeast – my daughter and all her friends attended their proms this way. Kudos to DS for being unafraid to buck the system!

Laura, what a fun post. My heart smiled so big when I read about your son and his sweet gentlemanly manner with the other dateless friends— awesome! And yes, the dress you bought for yourself is spot on so you! Thank you for making me smile this Saturday

Hi Laura what a gr idea for homecoming. No one was left out and a large group of friends had a great time together making memories.

I’m looking forward to cooking during the colder months. I enjoy it so much some comfort foods and some more health conscious. Have to cheat with friends and family sometimes.

Laura, such a great post. It is wonderful when kids gather their friends and just have a good time. Like you, they will have special memories – good ones. Have a lovely weekend.

Love what your son and his friends did! I can’t stand all the Homecoming proposal stuff that happens now…..just ridiculous amounts of $$ spent. I didn’t buy any of the Target anniversary collection, but I spent a good bit of time putting things in my cart and then walking away, lol. I’m doing well to keep the stuff from coming in. Your dress is cute, and I have one very similar to it.
    Happy Fall, Laura!

Love the Renaissance knock-off paintings and of course your sweet guy and his friends. Smart move!
