The first day of summer is right around the corner! When my dear friend Marty of A Stroll Thru Life asked if I would like to participate in her blog hop I happily agreed. This is the 2019 Summertime at Storybook Cottage tour.
If you are coming over from Duke Manor Farm may I say “Welcome!”. Laura’s summer living decor is always a delight.
Summer Strawberries
One of my favorite summertime fruits is the delicious strawberry. It seems to be making a comeback as a decor theme. I’ve seen it on dishes, towels, pillows and more.
I love using cheery red as an accent color in the kitchen.
My mom Nadine’s vintage Mikasa stoneware is perfect for summertime meals.
A vintage berry basket makes the perfect centerpiece.
We celebrate Father’s Day every day. On tonight’s dessert menu a Mr. Decor favorite: strawberry shortcake!
Who wants a bite?
The glass-fronted kitchen cabinet holds more of the “Strawberry Festival” dishes.
Happy red gingham aprons brighten one wall area.
A Frugal Bathroom Makeover
The most recent update in our forty-year-old home was in the Master Bathroom. Since we have plans to put Storybook Cottage on the market next spring it was sorely in need of an update. It was a bit of a challenge to keep costs low but we did it!
“BEFORE”
You can see all the details as well as how we transformed our truly gross and MOLDY shower in this post.
Summertime at Storybook Cottage
For our family, summer means outdoor fun in the sun! I love to create little vignettes throughout our garden. Seating areas are often used to take in a bit of the bunny, squirrel and bird watching that is so abundant this time of year.
I was so happy when I recently found a vintage bistro set on my neighbors curb on trash day. It was in dire need of a makeover. With a bit of elbow grease and a coat of paint, it was truly transformed!
It was a pretty wet and windy spring. Mr. Decor made good use of the old fencing that was replaced.
All of the rain has created a gloriously green garden. It makes such a lovely backdrop for al fresco dining.
You can see more of the table and many of our beautiful garden flowers HERE.
I hope you have enjoyed the 2019 Summertime at Storybook Cottage tour.

Your pops of red just make everything so cheery! Your strawberry dishes remind me of a Strawberry Tea I had several years ago for my Tea Ladies group. I had fun searching for tea themed dishes and recipes. Looks like summer has arrived here in Texas!
Lorrie says
Lots of pretty vignettes here. The strawberry dishes remind me of a set I had for many years and left in South America. They had strawberries and green vines and were so cheery. Strawberry shortcake is a great treat for your husband (and I imagine the rest of you enjoyed it, too). Love the peonies!
