On Monday we looked at the glorious first floor of the Thistle Hill mansion. Today’s post, Hoop Skirts at Thistle Hill Part II, features the interiors of the second floor. The icing on top of the cake is the lovely portraits of some of the members of the DFW Costumers Guild in all their historical finery.

Hoop Skirts at Thistle Hill Part II
This lovely room looks as though time has been beautifully stopped.
While the bed, side table, and dresser are Eastlake designed furniture the sitting area features glorious gilded furniture in the Louis XVI design.
I absolutely love the wallpaper in this room.
The afternoon light was so very magical.
A close up of the lighting featured in several rooms. I think it may be a reproduction. It fits the space very well.

Another room also featured a soothing green wallpaper in a damask print.
Oh, check out that mantel!
Here is a close up of the original tiled hearth.
Most of the furniture in the room and all of the woodwork was made of birdseye maple.
A lovely authentic bathroom.
Isn’t the marble sink a wonder?
Like many old homes, this one is like an onion. It has layers and layers that tell the story of its history. In 1940 the home was acquired by the Girls Service League of Fort Worth. The house then sat empty from 1968 to 1975. Thankfully in 1976, a preservation non-profit, Save-the-Scott, purchased the home and restored it. Sections of the home tell of this amazing journey. Some rooms have yet to be restored.
In the ladies dressing area there was a collection of antique clothing that was beautiful and inspiring. Much like so many ladies in the guild.
Fabulous Victorian Costuming
Megan’s lovely skirt and bodice featured fabric and trim made from a silk sari.
I am always amazed at Christy’s creations. She never uses a pattern, just simply drapes and pins fabric into her desired design.
Ginger’s dress was a parfait perfection. Her bonnet was simply amazing!
It is impossible for me to pick a favorite but the colors of Carolyn’s ensemble were breathtaking. Her attention to detail is impeccable. She even hand dyed the lace.
