Hello sweet friends, today I am sharing an easy and economical decorating theme. It is a Woodland Tablescape For A Sweet Guy.

Woodland Tablescape For A Sweet Guy
This tablescape was created using only things I had on hand.
We have 16 oak trees here at Storybook Cottage and each autumn they get trimmed back. I used some of the smaller logs along with some faux greenery to create a low level centerpiece.

Friendly Village dishes, vintage glassware and fall leaf placemats continued the theme at each of the 10 place settings.
At each setting there was a place card. I find that people enjoy looking for their seat at the table and there is less confusion.

Here is the printable. You can right click on the image to save it to your computer.

Mini lanterns and fairy lights help to create a cozy atmosphere.

The Menu
Over on the sideboard the theme was continued.

Antlers, faux leaves and acorns were placed in a wood tray for easy removal.

Various pine greenery was tucked in to create a lush vignette.

This dinner was held in honor of Sweet Guy’s 25th birthday. He prefers pie to cake so an apple crumb and pecan pie fit the outdoor theme beautifully.

Sweet Guy was born in Germany so Oktoberfest favorites were made for dinner.
- Sauerbrauten and brats
- Spätzle
- Cabbage
- Potato and green salad
- Assorted bread

His wonderful in laws, Mike and Michele attended.

Brother in law Matt and Sister in law Madison brought their smiles.

The grill master wore his leiderhosen and sister Lou helped set up.
Happy 25th Birthday Sweet Guy!

May this be your best year yet.
All my love,
Mama

It is hard to believe that the very first party for Sweet Guy shared on this website was in 2008, when he turned seven. So many of you have been right there from the beginning of this wonderful journey. I truly treasure your friendship.

This is wonderful,, Laura. Everything about it — especially the log centerpiece. It’s so woodsy and reminds me of something that I should do sometime at the cottage! Not nearly so pretty but still, elegant, simple and all at hand. The menu sounds terrific and you can tell from the smiles that you had a fine crew of guests to enjoy it. (I’m with Ian on pie!)
Hi Jeanie,
The best part of this project is that I used found elements from my yard. I imagine you could gather quite a bit of treasure from the cabin!
Lovely! What a cozy, beautiful birthday dinner! Birthday pie instead of cake is a great choice!
Thank you so much Louise!
What beautiful table Laura, so woodsy and perfect for a masculine birthday party. Everyone had a wonderful time, I am sure…just look at their faces. I love the idea of pie instead of cake…yummy. The menu sounds so good and great that it was a tribute to his birth country.
We have Octoberfest here every year and it is always looked forward to. Hugs and Blessings
How special that you have Oktoberfest! Have a gorgeous day.
Fantastic!!! I needed to see this since our wedding decor is possibly very similar, but with some feminine colors added. Will be looking at your post again!
Happy bday to Ian! I remember that first one you posted too!
Ann
This reminds me that I finally got permission to post the wedding photos. I need to do that soon.
