A New Mantel For Early Spring

Hello sweet friends! Today I am joining my talented friend Cindy of County Road 407 for another round of Design Challenge. I am sharing A New Mantel For Early Spring.

If you are visiting from The Ponds Farmhouse let me say “Welcome to Storybook Cottage!” Wasn’t Rachel’s spring vignette lovely?

A New Mantel For Early Spring

Design Challenge

This month, the challenge was to create a fun early spring vignette. Our inspiration photo comes from the talented Liz Marie.

The Image Features:

  • A palette of neutrals accented with green
  • A swan accent piece
  • Vintage urns
  • A vintage pedestal with candle
  • Various plants

A New Mantel For Early Spring

I decided to create an early spring vignette on the mantel in the living room.

A New Mantel For Early Spring

I pulled some artwork that uses the same color palette as the inspiration image.

Next, I selected a wooden pedestal I have had for eons. Good design never goes out of style!

I surrounded it with faux greenery in various urns and a small wooden finial.

Faux greenery and other accents

This wee swan was found at an estate sale and recently graced my son and daughter in law’s wedding table. (It held sugar packets.)

A small china swan

On the left hand side of the mantel another similar vignette was created with another swan used at my son’s wedding dinner. (This theme was selected as swans mate for life.)

I hope you have enjoyed my take on this months Design Challenge.

Up next is Our Southern Home. You will love Christy’s thrifted spring vignette.

See you on Friday,

Laura

Laura, I love that you were able to use both swans from your son and DIL’s wedding dinners ~ lovely thought that the swans represent being together for life. <3 Marriage can be tough, as you know, with all of its trials, but it is sooo rewarding after many years together. Our mates are our rocks in the storms, and we are yoked together so when one falls the other helps lift the other up. <3 Lovely, lovely sentiment and calm in your mantelscape… Beautiful!

What a lovely mantel design, Laura. That large piece of art is the perfect backdrop and definitely has a spring vibe. The sweet swans will be a treasured memory of a special day. I can’t believe your son is married! Seems like we watched him grow up. I bet we see the swans in future vignettes.
