About a year and a half ago, I traveled to Virginia to meet with Jonathan Parker and his production team to film a segment for the documentary Little House Homecoming.

Jonathan (far right) and the incredible Parker Productions team.

It was truly an incredible experience and I loved Jonathan’s vision for the film that he shared with me.

A Love For Laura
Jonathan’s latest documentary celebrates Laura Ingalls Wilder, the Little House books and the television series.
The creation of the film was inspired by Parker’s 12-year-old daughter, Anna, who has a passion for Laura unlike anything I have ever seen or experienced.
Jonathan, his wife Rebecca, daughter Anna, and Joel and Ben (Anna’s younger brothers) spent countless weeks on the road in 2024 attending various 50th Anniversary events. In addition they traveled to historical celebrations at museum locations in Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
This past summer, during LauraPalooza, I sat with Jonathan and his wonderful children during the viewing. It was so much fun as dear Joel provided hilarious behind the scenes commentary. I adore this entire family.
For readers with eagle eyes, yes, dear Anna is wearing a Laura Ingalls Gunn original dress and cape.

The documentary features interviews from devoted fans, Laura Ingalls Wilder historians, and members of the original cast.

Laura

I just heard about it yesterday! How fun for you to be a part of it!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Barbara, it is such a wonderful film, and I am truly honored to be featured. Happy Thanksgiving to you!
That’s wonderful, Laura! I’m not surprised it drew such interest — such a landmark series. So wonderful to be part of it, but then, who better?
Jeanie, it is a beautiful love letter to Laura. The filmaker, Jonathon Parker, is truly gifted.
Laura, I am so happy for you that you are involved with the cast of Little House. The show was a favorite for my grandfather, Otto. The last time we spoke before he died, I said, “Don’t forget Little House is on tonight.” After he had died, I mailed my grandmother the books to read at night when she was missing her husband. I remember that she said, “Oh, I could just feel the cold and hear the wind when I was safe in my bed at night.” Little House books were something I loved as a child and they continue to be something I love. I have all the books and I treasure the aprons you made. And, I keep the small book you gave me right in front of my copies of the books in the bookcase.
