A Twilight Party

This past weekend, the Fashionista, in her role as maid of honor in her brother’s upcoming wedding, hosted A Twilight Party bachelorette weekend for the bride-to-be.

Selecting A Theme

The party planning began about 3 months ago. The second weekend in October was selected. Given the time of the year, the bride and her maid began looking at Gothic romances for the theme. Twilight was selected. If you aren’t familiar, the saga is based on a series of books written by Stephenie Meyer.

The books were turned into a wildly successful series of movies beginning in 2008.

Setting The Scene

Much of the storyline is set in the Pacific Northwest in the tiny wooded town of Forks, Washington. The main storyline is the romance between mortal Bella Swan and vampie Edward Cullen. Edward lives with his family in a lovely cabin in the woods.

The event was held at a cabin belonging to the brides Aunt Teresa.

The cabin is located in a wooded area near Cedar Creek Lake.

Inspiration

The series was primarily filmed with dark muted undertones focusing on the woodlands which the Fashionista wanted to incorporate into the decor.

Touches of purple were used as an accent color in the floral selections.

Let’s take a closer look how the inspiration was incorporated.

Upon entering the space it was immediately evident that a festive celebration would be taking place.

Eclipse moon garlands, shimmering silver fringe and streamers filled the ceiling and cascaded down the walls.

For the main tablescape various greenery was paired with floral elements and candles to create a gothic inspired design.

Mini floral arrangments featuring roses, carnations, mums and dalias were placed intermittenly throughout the space.

Each place setting featured shimmering party ware, a nod to Edward’s sunlit complexion.

Glow in the dark fangs, Twilight stickers and other elements helped to create a festive atmosphere.

Twilight Activities

Friday evening had the girls donning vintage pajamas to play board games, watch the movies, use the facemasks and indulge in other beauty fun.

Saturday the Twihards toured a local winery, shopped a few thrift stores and enjoyed an al fresco lunch.

Thank You

While I did drive up on Thursday to assist the Fashionista with the decorating I did not stay for the weekend festivities. A huge thank you to my dear daughter for providing many of the images used in this post.

She also documented the weekend for the bride to be with fun Polaroid snapshots.

No measure of time with you will be long enough, but we’ll start with forever.  ~ Edward
