Hello sweet friends! Welcome to the annual Fall Home Tours hosted by my dear friend Marty of A Stroll Thru Life. You can tour 16 homes over 4 days. Today I will be sharing A Happy Golden Fall Tour. If you are coming from Clean and Scentisible let me say, “Welcome to Storybook Cottage!” Jenn is so creative and has so many wonderful fall decor ideas.
A Happy Golden Fall Tour
For this year’s autumnal decor I wanted to pair rustic and weathered touches with a few modern accents.
In the living room there are touches of gold combined with white and other neutrals.
My favorite $2 harvest themed oil painting has found a home near Mr. Squirrel.
A turn of the century home guide (Home Comforts or Things Worth Knowing) elevates this happy nut harvester.
The mantel is quite simple this season.
Yellow confit pots, collected in France, are interspersed within a variety of gourds.
Squirrels abound in the gardens here at Storybook Cottage as well as inside our home.
A special grouping was placed under the antique Prince of Wales mirror.
As many of you are aware 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the television show, Little House on the Prairie. A golden year indeed.
I have a few copies of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s book These Happy Golden Years and this one is perfect to include in a fall vignette.
Let’s head into the formal dining area.
The Dining Area
In the dining area the rusticallywonderful touches continue.
My darling friend Dartanyan recently gifted me a few wonderful yards of this charming gingham fabric.
It pairs well with The Friendly Village dishes.
Over on the sideboard I created a grouping that makes me smile every time I walk past it.
A pewter pitcher gifted to me by dear Michele’s mom, Nancy, creates a fun backdrop for Grandma Joyce’s mid-century ceramic squirrels.
I hope you have enjoyed this year’s fall home tour here at Storybook Cottage.
Up next is From Farmhouse to Florida. Kimberly has some lovely fall decorating ideas for your dining room table.

Everything looks so beautiful. I love how you mix your amazing collection of pumpkins, books and squirrels to create such a fun fall wonderland. Your vignette on the buffet is stunning and I adore your tablesetting with the Friendly Village dishes. That is such a beautiful pattern. Thank you so much for joining the tour this season, you always share such beautiful and thoughtful decor with us.

Laura, your vintage ceramic squirrels are just the cutest touch for fall! I love how they add such a whimsical feel to your vignette. And displaying ‘These Happy Golden Years’ is such a lovely nod to your family history. Everything looks so beautifully done!

What a genius idea to base your fall decor on “These Happy Golden Years” in honor of the 50th Anniversary. Everything looks positively splendid. Your squirrels are simply a delight!

So so pretty. I love what you have done with your fireplace. The finish on it is perfect and the way you decorated it is gorgeous and so clever. Great fall decor. Your home looks like a warm hug.

Your fall themed home is so tranquil and pretty. You have added the rich fall colours but not let them take over. I am thinking with the heat of Texas they could be quite heavy. Fun to see the squirrels and pumpkins placed in your displays along with your Little House books. The shoes did it for me though. Those little buttoned up boots are just precious.
Thank you for sharing your decor and inspiring me to get my decorations up. We are dealing with an unusual heat wave here in the Atlantic Provinces this week and it has taken away my decorating imagination. I was dreaming pumpkin spice and warm sweaters, not lemonade and flip flops! Oh well, it will be here soon!

Your autumn decor is so beautiful, and I love that your theme is These Happy Golden Years, which is one of my favorites of the Little House book series. You have such a way of always making Storybook Cottage look so warm, cozy, and inviting. Hopefully autumn weather will arrive soon and send us to the comfort of warm sweaters, cozy blankets, and all the things that make autumn so very special.

I love it Laura! This may be my favorite tour of yours to date. Might be the deeper colors or the adorable squirrel collection you have. Whatever it is, it’s beautiful and festive. Hoping we get cooler days quickly this year. I’m so ready!
