Hello sweet friends, I hope you are having a wonderful day. Today’s Fashion Friday post will work for many era’s. The technique to Add A Lining To A Straw Bonnet can be used on modern or historically inspired hats. Add A Lining To A Straw Bonnet

I recently hosted a Georgian era garden party. Thinking I would need protection from the sun I looked at a plain straw bonnet I had purchased online awhile back.

I then went to Pinterest for inspiration. There are pages and pages of lined, straw bonnets. Below are a few of my favorites.

You can be taken to the original source simply by clicking on the photo.

The lining of bonnets is a technique that is both decorative as well as useful. Plain straw hats can grab or snag the hair when taking the bonnet off. This can result in a hairstyle being ruined. A smooth lining helps tremendously in avoiding hat head.

Bonnets can be lined in a number or fabrics. Silk is a popular choice.

The next two hats inspired me to add antique lace to the brim of my bonnet.

This Week’s Video

This project wasn’t at all hard. There are just several steps that need a show and tell platform. For this reason the tutorial was filmed and can be found on this week’s video.

If you wish to view the video in a larger format just click on the black box in the lower left hand corner that says Watch on YouTube.

You’ll also get a peek of my Jane Austen inspired garden.
