Wooden Spool Vintage Valentine Craft

Hello sweet friends! Welcome to the January edition of the Pinterest Challenge. This monthly event is hosted by the amazing Cindy of County Road 407. If you are coming over from Shiplap and Shells let me say, “Welcome to Storybook Cottage”.  Kim always decorates beautifully! I have created a Wooden Spool Vintage Valentine Craft.

A Valentine Themed Cloche

This month the challenge was to create a vintage inspired Valentine day cloche idea. Our lovely photo comes from Crafting While I Wait.

Valentine Cloche

Now I LOVE a good Valentine themed cloche.

This vignette featuring a cloche full of romantic sheet music is STILL being pinned even years later.

Love Letters, Pearls and Ribbon

Also a few years back I created a Valentine Cupcake Cloche Craft. Say that fast 5 times.

Now the challenge for me is that my cloche is currently packed away as our house undergoes renovation. But I did spy with my little eye the cute wooden spools in the inspiration cloche. If it’s one thing that I have a lot of it’s empty wooden spools.

For this craft you will need:

  • Wooden spools (Mine are vintage but new can be found in the wood crafting aisle.)
  • Scraps of paper or fabric.
  • Valentine themed printables. (I found mine on Pinterest.)
  • Scraps of ribbon, lace or twine.
  • Embellishments such as buttons, pearls, charms, etc.
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Optional: glitter

Step One

  • Cover the spool with scrapbook paper or fabric.
  • Insert a paperclip into the hole in the center of the spool.

Step Two

Embellish the papered area and top of the spool with charms, ribbon, lace, etc.

Last Step

  • Tuck in some vintage Valentine pintables.
  • You can add extra glitter or lace for more pizzaz.

I made six red themed spools which will be so fun to give to friends.

The pink spools feature a blank white heart. These are perfect for use as place cards on a Valentine themed table.

I might have to do this. If there is anything I have in stash, it’s Valentine stuff and I need a good project. It would be fun to bake cookies for my safe friends, do a quick delivery and put the spool as a “tag” tied to the bag. Thanks for a good idea — it will give me something to do in isolation besides be on the computer, read or walk into my office, throw up my hands and walk out again.

Goodness, you’ve been busy! Not sure how you got all those adorable spools done with a kitchen reno going on at the same time. Maybe it took your mind off of the construction noise? Loved how they turned out and those adorable printables are sooooo cute! Thank you for joining in.
