Hello sweet friends! Welcome to the May edition of the Pinterest Challenge. This monthly event is hosted by the amazing Cindy of County Road 407. I just love adore how she shared seven different ways to use baskets in your decor. Today I am sharing A Red and White Summer Porch.
A Red and White Summer Porch
This month the challenge is a summer basket. Our lovely inspiration photo comes from Anderson + Grant.
The image features:
- A once broken basket now reimagined.
- Blooms
- A clock
- The vignette was created on a wooden surface.
This month’s challenge gave me the opportunity to give our entryway a quick refresh. After sweeping and scrubbing I began to arrange a welcoming arrangement on our wee wooden bench.
In addition to the wooden surface the arrangement features:
- An old basket with a broken handle.
- An assortment of blooms.
- A sweet little clock.
Recently Texas, and other southern states, have been under a deluge of rain and flooding. This scene was quickly shot when we had a small reprieve from the extreme weather.
After the photographs were taken the clock and beads were removed as they are not waterproof. Smile.
I also gave the summer grapevine wreath a makeover.
After removing the old decor the wreath was hosed down to remove the dust and set aside to dry completely.
The color palette was inspired by this year’s red and white front garden theme. The strawberry-themed ribbon and the faux strawberries were found at Hobby Lobby. The white blossoms were reused from previous arrangments. I believe they originally came from the Dollar Store.
Up next is Our Southern Home with a gorgeous picnic basket vignette.
Enjoy!

Your porch looks so welcoming, Laura! I love how you decorated your basket for summer. I have never thought about making a strawberry themed wreath. Your wreath is unique and it looks so good on your front door. It’s crazy that Texas is getting so much rain. Here in VA we are so dry and really need rain.

Yep, we’re drowning over here too! Glad you could fancy up your porch though. You basket looks adorable and so welcoming. Aren’t you looking forward to maybe having more people ring that doorbell this year for a visit? I am! Thanks for joining in this month. Pinned

I love the color of your door, Laura… I don’t think I ever realized it was that pretty aqua color! And what a fun color combination for the summer!

Laura,
The strawberry wreath is lovely. I could smell summer strawberries. I like your sweet entrance. I love the alcove. and bricks. Well, I’m starting a new adventure, Laura. I might even start my blog up again. The bank building is sold and I’ve bought a house near Macomb, Illinois. I’ll be moving in a few short weeks. I feel freer!

This reminds me of my mom’s strawberry-themed kitchen in the 70’s;) What a fun theme for your garden; love that you followed the theme through to the entry, too. Hope all is going well with your kitchen remodel!

Loving your red and white entry way decor! (Feels like a little nod to your northern neighbours <3 )
Its the perfect summer combo since it reminds us of red and white gingham and picnics and lovely berries like your strawberries.
Thank you for sharing! Hope your wet weather improves and you have some nice sunny days soon but meanwhile I am sure your gardens and lawns are loving it. 🙂

Love your bench, Laura. What a great place to decorate or sit for a spell. This rain has been crazy. The plants love it, but I’m so over it. Today looks like we’ll have some sun.

Laura, I do love your updated basket on the front porch! It is pretty with the caladiums (I think) in it!. I’m sorry, I started writing you back on Wednesday morning and my computer died, then at school the IT technology blocks entry to WordPress (to other programs, mine was already up so it could see I “wasn’t a threat”)…
So, from Tennessee, a happy hello to you here on Saturday morning! Hope the rain has finally let up back there, I know our yards were one big mush, lol. 🙂 Enjoy your pretty patio and your basket in your entry or out front. <3
Big hugs,
Barb 🙂
