Hello dear friends! Welcome to the April edition of the Pinterest Challenge. This monthly event is hosted by Cindy of County Road 407. If you are visiting from A Stroll Thru Life may I say “Welcome!” I just love the spring touches on the countertops in Marty’s kitchen.
Today I am sharing a springtime-inspired Last Look at the Storybook Cottage Kitchen.
Last Look at the Storybook Cottage Kitchen
This month the challenge is a Fresh and Cheerful Spring Kitchen. Our lovely inspiration photo comes from Marly Dice.
The image features:
- White cabinets
- Bronze faucet
- Cutting boards
- Knife block
- Cake plate
- White dishes
- Fresh flowers
- Oranges
If you are following along with my weekly series on Kitchen Renovation you know that our kitchen is about to be ripped apart. The reasons why we need to completely remodel were addressed in this post.
This month’s Pinterest Challenge put me in the position of photographing the soon-to-be-old kitchen one last time.
Our kitchen actually has many similarities to the kitchen featured in the inspiration photos.
- White cabinets
- Bronze faucet
- Cutting boards
- Knife block
- Cake plate
- White dishes
- Fresh flowers
- Oranges
This is probably the easiest challenge I have ever faced thus far. I simply just wiped down the countertops and staged a few things.
Strawberries were added into the shot simply because I had them and they matched my curtains. (smile)
Inspiration Kitchen
I couldn’t do the exact same angle as my son was sitting at the table doing homework. It’s college finals week so he needed to stay where he was.
Lastly, the shot of the old hearth. Don’t panic! We are keeping it intact. It will just be getting a German schmear treatment that I wrote about HERE.
Up next is Carol from Bluesky At Home with some tips on ways to freshen your kitchen up for spring.
Enjoy!

Laura, I’m glad you’ll be keeping your hearth area’s beautiful brick. The arch is the best feature of your kitchen, I feel. I’m sorry about the pipes bursting… What a pain! With the German schmear technique, will you be doing it to the outside of your home, too? Just wondering. 🙂 It’ll be beautiful when it is all completed!!
Enjoy the remodeling process,
Barb 🙂

I love how your kitchen is always so spiffed up. Wish I could pick up your “old” kitchen and plop it down in my house since you’re getting a new one. It’s always so cute and happy. But I think those fun curtains are my favorite. Thank you for joining in. Grinning and Pinning!

Laura, I can’t wait to see what you do with the kitchen. Keeping your brick surround is a very good idea. It adds such character and warmth to any kitchen. Happy May.
