Love filled wishes are in the air! Sweet Guy’s special gal recently celebrated her 20th birthday. For such an important milestone we enjoyed grand merriment with a Regency Inspired Valentine Craft & Tea.
The beautiful birthday girl!
Regency Inspired Valentine Craft & Tea
This was such a fun occasion to enjoy. Megan and her family have been in our safe circle since last March. Michele, Megan’s gorgeous mother, created all three lovely frocks for the occasion. She’ll be starting a new lifestyle website soon that you will definitely want to follow!
I selected our red transferware as the basis for the decor. The color is perfect for the holiday. You may also recall that when I created a Jane Austen inspired tea party a few years ago I had researched china and transferware was very much in use during this time period!
Also on the table were my great grandmother Lenora’s silverplate and romantic lace napkin rings.
The antique cranberry glass candlesticks belonged to Mr. Decor’s great aunt, Mildred.
The centerpiece consisted of carnations, baby’s breath, roses, and hydrangeas ~ Megan’s favorite flower.
The softs scents did not overpower.
The Menu
- Cream of asparagus soup
- Cucumber sandwiches
- Chicken salad sandwiches
- Fresh strawberries and raspberries
- Cured meats and cheeses
- Nuts
- Stuffed mushrooms
- Dried fruits
- Scones with lemon curd and whipped cream
- Eclairs
- Brioche with red raspberries and chocolate
- Ladurée loose leaf Marie Antoinette tea
- Peppermint tea
Onto The Crafts
I collected all the pink and red Regency fashion plate images from my Pinterest board. They were resized, printed out, and embellished with glitter.
I then gathered together:
- Heart-shaped boxes (available at the dollar store and craft shops)
- Bits of ribbon and lace
- Crepe paper
- Assorted cardstock paper and envelopes
- Glue
- Scissors
- Various embellishments
I ran the crepe paper through my sewing machine but you can also quickly hand sew a gathering stitch or simply pleat it.
No crepe paper? Use lace!
Self-stick diamond dots and paper flowers make for lovely embellishments.
Some of the boxes feature flat figures that make them easier to send through the mail.
The pop up boxes are so fun!
You can learn step by step how to make them in today’s video. I am dressed in my best Mrs. Bennet inspired attire.

See you on Friday!

I haven’t made heart boxes for a long time and I have quite a stash of empties. They’re such fun to do and I love the pop-up idea. The menu looks to die for — everything is both beautiful and sounds delicious. Your guests all look beautiful in their lovely gowns! What a garnd occasion. I wish I had an inside bubble of people. Maybe after we’re all vaccinated….
