Welcome to the second installment of Christmas at Storybook Cottage. Today I am sharing A Tasha Tudor Inspired Front Porch.
A Tasha Tudor Inspired Front Porch
I loved the challenge of how to incorporate the elements featured in the inspiration photos below for this year’s festive theme: A Tasha Tudor Inspired Holiday.
Tasha’s home, Corgi Cottage, is located in Marlboro, Vermont. It is a traditional 1750’s style Cape Cod house. The barn is beautifully rustic and the grounds are covered in snow this time of year.
During the Advent season, Tasha would collect seasonal greenery and natural elements to decorate her cottage. She called it bringing in the greens.
Tasha often depicted her home in her artwork which is known and beloved by people all over the world.
I have a certain fondness for Laura in the Snow.
It seems many of you also enjoy Tasha given the delighted responses I received from A Tasha Tudor Inspired Pioneer Dress.
Creating The Look
This year’s holiday porch features:
- Grapevine Trees
- Greenery
- Wooden crate
This look took just a few minutes to create. Embellished grapevine trees were tucked into a rustic wooden crate made by Mr. Decor when a tornado took our fence down.
But let’s pull back and take a look at the bigger picture.
Fresh greenery is woven into a garland and strung over the front door. Sure, it doesn’t look as “perfect” as an artificial swag would. But the wonderful pine smell that envelopes you entering Storybook Cottage is absolutely heavenly!
The hanging basket is a simple arrangement of greenery, berries, and tartan ribbon.
Tasha Tudor famously reused her parent’s red wedding ribbon year after year. So I embellished the greenery with red ribbon last used on the Dickens Inspired Tree and mantel.
There is a small area to the right of the door that is just wide enough for a wee bench.
I use my sugar pinecones too year after year!
I adore eating and decorating with pomegranates. Do you?
There are more Tasha Tudor themed posts planned for December.
Tomorrow is the Season Finale of Lessons With Laura.

Your Christmas porch looks stunning, Laura! I love your version of our inspiration picture and it’s neat that your husband made your crate using fence boards. I’ve never heard of Tasha Tudor and I’m intrigued. Her art is gorgeous and her home is in Vermont, my favorite state to visit. I also love your sugar pine cones!

Laura,
I love reading your posts. One of my favorite things as a child was to dress up like Laura Ingles Wilder. I so wanted to transform myself to that time. Thanks for doing this on a regular basis with your posts!

It looks terrific, Laura. Warm and inviting and Tasha T would be proud! I love the grapevine trees. This was supposed to be the weekend my friend Jan andI do our annual trip to the greens market. Alas, not this year. I don’t have pine in my yard and I haven’t figured out what I’m going to do without that this year but we’ll make it work!
