Welcome to the June Pinterest Challenge Create A Patriotic Tray Or Vignette. This monthly event is hosted by Cindy of County Road 407. If you are visiting from the truly talented Our Southern Home may I say “Welcome to Storybook Cottage!” Today I am sharing a happy outdoor scene, A Yankee Doodle Dandy Of A Garden.
Create A Patriotic Tray Or Vignette
This month’s challenge was inspired by a gorgeous Fourth of July vignette created by Liz Marie.
It features:
- A red, white, and blue color palette
- American flags
- Blue canning jars
- Seagrass tray
- Striped pillows
- A red tricycle
A Yankee Doodle Dandy Of A Garden
I created this festive tablescape to celebrate Father’s Day this past Sunday. Longtime readers know that Mr. Decor is retired military (Air Force) and is patriotic from his head to his toes! He also is SO proud of the bounty being produced by our garden right now.
The patriotic vignette features:
- A red, white, and blue color palette
- American flags
- Blue canning jars
- Seagrass tray
- Striped pillows
- A mini red vintage toy cart
For the tablescape, I started with a vintage white tablecloth topped with seagrass chargers.
A few pillows were added for comfort and color.
Next the centerpiece was created specifically for the Pinterest Challenge.
With the exception of some grocery store flowers, nothing new was purchased I simply reused several well-loved elements.
Summer In The Victory Garden
I planted the Victory Garden back in early April. I am in charge of the weeding and occasionally adding organic fertilizer. Mr. Decor takes care of daily watering and harvesting.
So far we have enjoyed butter lettuce and Swiss chard.
Peter Piper better get here quick!
The cucumbers are just starting to blossom.
Blue Lake green beans.
Our “German Queen” heirloom tomatoes do indeed look as if they are wearing a crown.
I shared a summer tomato salad on Instagram last week.
We also have flowers blooming. The mums do not seem to know it is not autumn.
Love sweet mini purple petunias!
Our lilies didn’t bloom at Easter but they’re going strong now.
Over in the wild butterfly garden, some rogue seeds have sprouted outside the beds. I leave them.
I love my little photo bomber who is always by my side.
We soon after went inside because it really is SO hot!
I hope you have enjoyed our A Yankee Doodle Dandy Of A Garden!
Be sure to visit all the other PC participants below for additional ideas.
Up next in the lineup is the delightful Sweet Pea.

Adorable as always, Laura. I love how your brain thinks of the theme while you’re styling, just like mine does! Fun to see how your gardens are coming along. My hubs is way into his hosta this year…going on 800 plants! I’ve been enjoying my flowers and container pots; kind of a good year to soak up the beauty and shut out the noisy world a bit!

What a beautiful table that you set for Father’s Day. Love those transferware plates. I also enjoyed seeing your garden. During WWII, my grandfather was a school principal. He raised a victory garden at school for the cafeteria to use to prepare lunches for the students. Please thank your husband for his service to our country!

Your table centerpiece is perfect for our challenge and you even have the wooden flag in the background! You rocked it! Love the tray, the plates, the jars and flowers. ALL OF IT! Your garden is amazing as well. I just don’t get why I can’t grow anything. I read the articles, check the soil, fertilize, water or don’t, blah blah blah. Just isn’t in my genes. Guess my jeans are Gloria Vanderbilt instead. 😉 LOL. Do you remember those? I had every color made. I was stylin’ sista. Thanks so much for joining in. Please tell Mr. Decor we appreciate his service! And when are we going to dinner?! Pinned

Laura, I love your garden. Lucky to have such a wonderful bounty. Your setting under the trees in the backyard is lovely, but I know how hot it has been for the past few days. You’ve set a pretty centerpiece with your basket and the chargers pair well. Tell Mr. Decor again thank you for his service.

You had me at that gorgeous tablecloth and I love your little red cart.
I used to have a wooden colonial flag on our fence, but one day it just fell apart. It was about 25 years old so I guess it did its time.

Your ticking stripe napkins on your red transferware look so patriotic. Love it!
