Napoleon and Josephine Valentine Bonbons

Hello sweet friends! Will you be decorating for Valentine’s Day? I am hosting a themed tea next Saturday and wanted a simple and inexpensive party favor for my 25 guests. Here is how to create the Napoleon and Josephine Valentine Bonbons.

To make the bonbons you will need the following:

  • Empty tissue paper rolls
  • Cardstock in your choice of colors.
  • Glue
  • Stapler
  • Scissors
  • Decorative trims (I used gold Dresden foil trims.)
  • Ribbon
  • Various candy
  • Tissue paper (I used old pattern paper.)

An Easy To Follow Video

For the actual construction process, I created a step by step video. Let me know how you like this process.

Step By Step Review

  • Cut cardstock to size and wrap around cardboard tissue roll.
  • Staple each end to secure.
  • Glue trims on each end to hide staples. Add additional trims to the center of the tube.
  • Wrap candy in tissue, tie each end closed with ribbon.
  • Slide into the decorated tube, enjoy!

Very nice video, Laura! I had a problem with lip synch with it — your voice was ahead of the video which didn’t matter too much here because of the nature of the project (though it’s always frustrating, no matter what!) It may well have been my internet slowing down the works, so if it’s good on your end when you click through, not to worry. The favors are darling. You must have had this one in your head for ages to save 25 toilet paper rolls! But they’re awfully cute!

Laura, your video was wonderful! I know you must be enjoying your class, too. I always think what a waste it is to toss out all those tp rolls, and I have made Boxing Day crackers before but your idea is fresh.

Happy crafting and I had no issues with the video and sound tracking together. I watched on my iPhone.

See you later this morning at Sewing,
    Hugs and coers,
