Welcome to the June Pinterest Challenge Lantern Decor. This monthly event is hosted by Cindy of County Road 407. If you are coming over from Let’s Add Sprinkles may I say “Welcome”! I have created a Summer Lantern Seascape.
Summer Lantern Seascape
This month’s challenge was inspired by a front door arrangement by Kelly Nan.
The arrangement features:
- A metal lantern
- Sparkle (candle)
- Natural elements (moss and plants)
- Neutral background (fireplace)
The fun of the Pinterest Challenge is that you are given free rein to create your own interpretation. Since it is now officially summer in Texas I am focused on keeping cool. For me, this means creating home decor that captures a cool color palette and elements of the sea.
The Decor To Adore arrangement features:
- A metal lantern
- Sparkle (silver tray)
- Natural elements (shells and sand)
- Neutral background (white tablecloth)
The centerpiece is, of course, the antique lantern. It belonged to Mr. Decor’s grandfather, Landen Henry Gunn, Sr. He would use the oil lantern at night while walking along the Panama Canal during its construction. Grandpa Gunn was awarded the Roosevelt Medal for his work on the canal.
There are strong opinions in the decor world about tarnished silver. In this instance, I think it works well with the rustic lantern and other weathered elements.
I’ve also included a mini ledger that belonged to Mr. Decor’s maternal great grandmother. She was also named Laura.
Over on the sideboard, similar elements are used to decorate the area.
Glass fishing weights, sea glass, and shells top another silver tray.
The blue hydrangea is my favorite summer bloom.
I hope you have enjoyed my interpretation of this month’s Pinterest Challenge. I encourage you to follow suit and come up with your own design.
You can see other lovely front door creations by visiting Cindy’s blog.
Up next is Lora B. Create & Ponder.
Enjoy!
