Favorite Fall Mailbox Decorating Ideas

Now that I have my front porch decorated for the fall season my attention has turned to a small area in the yard that could use an autumnal transformation. So I’ve gathered together a few favorite fall mailbox decorating ideas. I hope they will also inspire you.

The beauty of adding a bit of fall decor to a mailbox is that it just might bring a bit of joy to the many neighbors that walk or drive past your home every day.

While the porch might be overlooked it’s hard to miss a lovely mailbox decked out it all its autumnal glory.

Dried cornstalks can be easily attached to a post. You can use a thin florist wire, a large zip tie or just wrap a ribbon around the stalks and mailbox post.

The base of the mailbox can be surrounded by pumpkins, mums, baskets and other bounties of the season.

Faux garlands can be incorporated into living vines.

Swags

On a smaller scale, you can just add a simple swag to your mailbox.

I adore the gingham bow on this swag.

I have also spied some pre-made swags at home decor, craft stores and sites like Etsy.

The mailbox at Storybook Cottage is enclosed in a brick column similar to one in the image below. So there is a bit of an added challenge on how to decorate it.

I’d like to incorporate some of the non-traditional colors that I used on the front porch.

There is also a decorating opportunity in a corner of the backyard garden. A sweet touch that would take mere minutes.

I also get a warm cozy feeling thinking about sharing a bit of seasonal bliss with my hardworking postmistress. I know a decorated mailbox would surely make her smile.

They are all so pretty. We share a mailbox place with others and cannot decorate it. I wish we could

Fun fall decorating. My mailbox is clumped together with many others. No individual box in front of my house. If I had one like the ones you shared it would be fun to decorate it. Hope you have a lovely week!

    Pretty ideas, Laura. 🙂
We don’t have mailboxes at the curb in our town – they are normally just small boxes located directly on the houses (our postal carriers walk) so I don’t really do anything super special with our mail box. To be honest, this is the first fall where Sarah isn’t home and while I’m enjoying the newfound freedom of “just us two” it’s taken me a lot of effort to even put up fall decor and I feel the same way about the impending Christmas holiday season. I was hoping this was the year I could skip all of it really. 🙂
    Kind regards,
    Linda

My mailbox is right by/attached to the house by the door so decorating options are limited. This post makes me wish I had to trek to the street!
