There is a sense that we all could use more love, joy, and happiness our lives. Wonderful things such as a pretty image, quick project or a heartfelt story can all help provide positive inspiration. This week’s heartwarmer on Sunday Smiles ~ Singing Johnny.
So first, the pretty.
So much wonderful creativity can be seen every week. I adored the study renovation that Edith and Evelyn shared. An amazing transformation was achieved simply with paint. I also loved Cindy’s ingenuity of using drop cloths to make her 15-year-old cottage style desk have more “French style”.Cindy’s office has inspired me to consider that a little-used room in the attic, here at Storybook Cottage, could use a makeover.
The idea of wallpapering the sloped ceiling, using Osborne & Little’s iconic Coronota wallpaper, to bring a little color and life to the windowless space brings a smile to my heart. The walls of this hidden hideaway below are similar in line with our attic.
I like the soft aqua colorway used in this bedroom styled by Electic Charleston.
There’s sort of a dry spell right now in good television programming.
What are you watching?
I was so happy to see the new trailer for Season 2 of The Crown, even though it is still four months away.
Lastly, I will leave you with a story ~Singing Johnny.
I grew up in a small town that contained a cast of characters that could rival Mayberry. My childhood friends had names such a Chick, Whitey (due to his shining locks) and Tippy. Our next door neighbors were Frog and Martha. Earlier this week Martha sent me a link to like a Facebook page for a man I had not thought of in 30 years, Singing Johnny.
Singing Johnny, the window washer, was a constant fixture on Main street. He sang and whistled happy, inspiring tunes while working all day at his chosen profession. Even in the blazing summer heat and freezing winter. If you were within earshot you could not help but smile for his happiness and joy was contagious. Sadly, he was involved in a motorcycle accident this past Monday and suffered a head injury. The community has rallied around this man that for many, until now, had not known his last name.
My friends this the truly inspiring Johnny Dowden.
Please say a prayer for dear Singing Johnny and to those hit hard by Hurricane Harvey.
I hope you have been inspired to share some joy yourself this week.
