Visiting the Getty Museum had been on my bucket list for many years. I finally realized the dream while recently traveling to California. An extra treat was The Gorgeous Garden at the Getty Museum.
The Gorgeous Garden at the Getty Museum
The descending path leading to the central garden crosses back and forth over a stream.
The walkway also winds through various succulents gardens.
I didn’t realize succulents could do so well in partially shaded areas and hope to now plant my own at Storybook Cottage.
The base of the path opens onto the Central Garden.
It was created by artist Robert Irwin. Bougainvillea grows within shaped rebar sculptures creating a shaded arbor in the plaza.
The focal point is a cascading waterfall with a pool of floating azaleas laid out in a maze.
On either side of the maze is a tiered garden.
The pretty path leads you past glorious flora and fauna.
Due to California’s ongoing drought, many of the plants specifically selected are drought resistant.
What glorious red roses!
This wooden trellis captured my fancy. I am hoping Mr. Decor can build me something similar.
Happy black eyes Susans.
I love a good rose tree. I have five in my own garden.
This rose tree is being trained to grow in the shape of an umbrella. Love it!
I grew white dahlias this year but might have to add a bit of burgundy next year.
The other tiered garden was similar but still sweet
I sat on a bench for several minutes to take it all in.
Upon my return to the top, I took one last look.
On Wednesday I will be sharing my favorite ladies of the Getty.

So glad you made it to the Getty! When we lived in Camarillo for a few years I was able to go with two bloggy friends to the Getty. What a treasure it is. If you ever get the chance the Getty Villa is another beautiful place to visit. Hope you have a good week.

Isn't it mesmerizing? Such beauty and creativity. Years ago a friend of mine that I used to work with moved back to CA and was working for the City of Riverside. She became friends with this 80+ years young lady that had a home in Vista and Laguna Beach. The lady offered us the Laguna Beach house for 10 days ~ complimentary!! It was 2 levels, however, from the front it looked as though it was only one. The entire back and both sides were all glass and she had all the windows cleaned and had the gardener plant all fresh flowers before we arrived. It was a glorious home and hearing the waves crash on the beach at night was delightful! The J. Paul Getty's lived next door. I can't remember who lived on the other side. Anyway, that's the cliff notes on our visit. 🙂

Dearest, Darling Laura,
what a stunning, breathtaking garden you've had the fortune to visit, I'm sure it made your day and has taken a part in your heart, sweet friend !
After this period of 'interlude' which I had to allow myself due to work reasons – the Short Lets I manage here at Tenuta Geremia, the speech about the Empress of Austria I had to prepare and to perform at the conference which was held last Saturday at Madonna di Campiglio, in our Dolomiti, some works of restoration here and the family to join and follow took me far from the pc for more than a month and a half – I'm so glad to enjoy your wonderful posts again, I've been missing you so, so much !
Hope your week is off to a good start I'm sending ever much love to you
Xx Dany
P.S.: Next week I'm going to publish the post we've prepared together, thanks to your sweet and precious collaboration, dearie !
As for the pictures I've found something on the web, I thought to use them writing their credits, of course. Let me know if it's all right for you.
Thank you again and again ♡❤♡
