ORC Week 4 The Mr. Does Demo

I know, we should have been doing the demo in week 2, but here we are. ORC Week 4 The Mr. Does Demo.

ORC Week 4 The Mr. Does Demo

ORC Week 4 The Mr. Does Demo

This is where I shamefully tell you that I did very little work on the bathroom this week. The bulk of the work was shouldered by Mr. Decor. For the millionth time, I will once again say how grateful I am for a handy husband.

He removed the old, spray painted faucet…

…and discovered previous workmanship that literally “cut corners”.

A standard 36” sink had been made to fit the 35” inch space by cutting out the drywall and shoving the sink in.

The rest of the sink top was removed.

Luckily my husband does things the right way and he has ordered a custom sink top that will fit appropriately.

Next, he carefully removed the old mirror.

He was successful in leaving the mirror all in one piece. As I type this he is patching the walls and preparing to paint the vanity. #imaveryluckygirl #mrdecoristhebomb

So what was my role in all this? I went to the hardware store as often as he needed me to, served up delicious meals and continued slogging through final exams and research papers.

Here’s what’s left that’s making me bite my nails to the quick:

Week 5

  • Install the new sink.
  • Install the new faucet, bathroom tissue holder and hand towel bar.
  • Select and hang a new mirror.
  • Create a white Roman window shade.
  • Select and hang artwork
  • Decorate and photograph the space for the Week 6 reveal.

I think I can.

You and I are in the same boat…it's our project but our precious husbands shoulder much of the responsibility. That's marriage though with a good amount of give and take. Hang in there friend.

I think he got the easy part of the bargain! lol Hope all went well with your papers.
It is always interesting to do some demolition on someone else's home. The things lurking behind plaster and a few boards can be so scary! It would have been easier in the first place to to and get the sink cut down or to buy one that fit. I will never understand the reasoning behind some folks construction theories.
Can't wait to see the finished bath. It will look so great in the colours you have chosen to go with your family room. It really will be a little pearl. 🙂
