The Every Man

Oh my how the days are flying by! It is hard to believe that it is already the third week of advent. Do you know why God revealed the birth of Jesus first to the shepherds? It is because of The Every Man.

At the time shepherds were considered to be the lowest of the low in regards to the economic and social scale.

So, why would God want to tell the world of His great gift via a mere shepherd instead of say, a king?

He wanted to assure us that the love of Christ was for everyone, not just a select few.

I find tremendous comfort in this. We ALL matter.

Tonight the Shepherds Candle, also known as the peace candle, will be lit.

May you shine brightly for everyone this week.

“Like a shepherd, He will tend His flock, in His arm He will gather the lambs and carry them in His bosom; He will gently lead the nursing ewes.” ~ Isaiah 40:11

Just lovely. The candle of peace – a state that is sadly lacking in our current world.

    Simple and beautiful.
