Oh I can hardly believe this is the last day of April. This month has just flown by.
This past week was all about painting projects. The freshly painted mantle was hung and I began to try out various groupings of accessories.
I also found some pillows for the couch that were almost the perfect color palette….
I just added a bit of watered down “Florence” chalk paint to a few of the flowers and the entire room is now tied together.
Sweet Guy was recently assigned a final art project for school. He needed to create a Jackson Pollock inspired composition. Two weeks ago I took him to the Dallas art museum to see if he could find some inspiration.
This past Saturday we studied color theory and Pollock’s various artistic techniques and forms. Both artists used pouring, stick and splatter methods to apply paint to the canvas.
With myself as the patron and Sweet Guy as the artist we looked at the dining room where the artwork would hang to agree on a color palette. Lastly, we measured the space to determine canvas size and drove to the store to purchase our supplies. Sunday afternoon he began his creation. He absolutely loved the creative process. It truly was a win-win situation for everyone.
Don’t you love that the art session was supervised by our own “Lump”?
Picasso and “Lump”.
They were inseparable.
This past week I also got the chairs dropped off of the upholsters, draperies hemmed and the green hutch filled. I still need to address a bit more of the accessorizing. Given that today is my last final and I will have 18 glorious days before the next semester starts I am hopeful it will all get done.
Next week is the reveal so fingers crossed that the chairs are back in time.

Your family is very artistic and talented. And how lovely to have Sweet Guy's painting hanging on the walls in your home. You have been a busy lady this year and it's only the end of April. I hope you enjoy your break and have some 'me' time to relax and recover before you take off running again.
Can't wait to see your room! 🙂

How wonderful that Sweet Guy got to contribute to your project! I still can't wait to see the big reveal. I will not be able to completely finish my own project due to another family crisis (death) but am happy for the progress that has been made.

How very creative of you, Lauee these ra, to add color to your pillows by way of paint! I don't think I would have ever thought of that! Good to see all these creative juices flowing so easily at your house. And they are all just beautiful! I'm enjoying my apron. I have it hanging on a decorative hook in my kitchen so I can see it every day, and not hide it in a drawer. Thanks again!
