Storybook Cottage The Range Area

Oh, I am such a tease! I know you all must be thinking “Just show us the darn kitchen already!!!” So here is Storybook Cottage The Range Area.

Storybook Cottage The Range Area

It’s coming. Just a few more projects to wrap up. Here’s an area that’s done for now.

This was my original inspiration. You have to go visit Joan to see her entire kitchen.
for the love of a house: the kitchen: details
The brick that begins here…

The 10 Cent Tour

…wraps all the way around to the kitchen. It was kind of a black hole.

So I lightened things up a bit and added a bit of shimmer. I hope to find a big heavily carved gold frame for my $2 painting. It will come….

I like to keep my favorite spices close at hand in tiny antique doll dishes and spoons that belonged to Grandma Jingles.

Range area French wooden spoons in a champagne bucket? Mais Oui!  Eiffel tower scissors are ready at a moments notice to clip the cooking twine to sew up a baked chicken ala Julia. Olive oil makes a splash on a regular basis in my kitchen. They all sit on a marble turntable I found at Goodwill for $2.

Mr. Décor’s favorite spice is pepper. He LOVES it! I bought him this pepper mill for our first Christmas together as newlyweds while living in Greece. If you look closely it says “PEPER”. Even misspelled the guarantee must still be good because 17 years later it still works like a charm.

Mr. Décor would like to get a gas stove. I am ALL for that. He’s willing to buy just any ole thing. But for me….

Portraits, Interiors

I’d rather save my pennies for a few years and get something special. More copper pots too, please!

Know what else I like in my kitchen? Photobombing kids and dogs.

Smooch and pooch

Did any eagle eyes spy a sneak peek of something? The full reveal in all its Christmas splendor is Friday.

I love it, Laura! I truly do! And I am so very happy for you about your Storybook Cottage. 🙂

I am going to have to play catchup on your blog. I have been sick for two months and not blogging, but I hope to be back in the swing soon. I'm on Mr. Magpie's laptop because I broke my IPAD. Dropped it on the floor and SPLAT. The glass broke. So I am rushing before he gets ready to leave for work.

Can't wait to see the rest of your beautiful new home.

    Love you,

    Sheila 🙂

I love the brick. It makes me feel like I am in an Italian kitchen. I love my gas stove! I started on gas, moved to electric for 30 years and now am back to gas. LOVE it!

The hearth looks adorable, and I love that you kept the brick. I agree with keeping something to get what you want. But have you seen the GE Artistry series? It looks vintage, but is quite affordable. I saw the refrigerator, and then looked at the other pieces online. It's adorable. It's not the 20,000 Parisian kind, but it is sweet looking.
