A Fall Tablescape and Caramel Apple Cake

I have not forgotten Thanksgiving. Next week I will be sharing my all thrifted Thanksgiving tablescape but I thought you might like to see what we have been enjoying right now. Fall is FINALLY here in Phoenix. If you call temperatures in the 70’s “fall”. Here is A Fall Tablescape and Caramel Apple Cake.

A Fall Tablescape and Caramel Apple Cake

Over the weekend I made my family one of their favorite fall desserts. This recipe is SO delicious, easy, and inexpensive you will love it!

A Fall Tablescape and Caramel Apple Cake

Here is what you will need:

  • One box of butter yellow cake mix plus the ingredients stated on the box to make the cake.
  • A teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 4 small apples, peeled and diced.

Now, this cake is SO good and moist on its own. But if you really want to take a bite of heaven you can add:

A scoop of vanilla ice cream

A drizzle of caramel sauce.  (I talked about my favorite canned sauce HERE.)

Peeled apples

You can mix all the cake ingredients together in a mixer and then hand fold in the apples.

Use any pan that is specified on the back of the cake box and follow the temperature and timing directions listed.

Apple cake

Oh man, this cake is so good while it’s warm. I tried to get a little fancy and use a glass to cut out individual cake rounds. It was somewhat of a fail as it was so warm and crumbly.

But add a bit of warm caramel and ice cream and Shazzam! I guarantee no one will be leaving any crumbs on the plate.

It was a perfect ending to a perfect evening.

For the tablescape, I started with a $4.99 bouquet of flowers from the grocery store. The colors said “Happy Fall Ya’ll” to me.

I found the pedestal container at the thrift store for $1.00 about a year ago. I couldn’t resist pairing it with some lovebirds and romantic candlelight.

Everyone cleaned their plates! I share our dinner recipes soon.

Pretty table setting. The recipe sounds yummy too.

When I woke this morning, it was 70 degrees in the house. That's the lowest, probably since last January or February. I think my home stays warmer, because it is older.

That cake looks soooooo good, I'll have to try it and yes, I adore fall, but I always feel like here in Illinois, by the end of November, it's winter. At least that's how it feels and looks to me. We're now going to be having highs in the 30s and it's grey, windy, damp, and the trees no longer have leaves.

I'm in the midst of full decorating for Christmas and aim to complete that by Sunday.

    Have a nice weekend!
    Linda

Your cake looks yummy on a great table. I had to chuckle to myself though – although I've only just started pulling out some Christmas decor, my house looks a bit schizo right now with remnants of Fall decor still in place (while your Fall is just beginning in AZ!). I placed my outdoor Christmas decor yesterday because it was warm & dry, but had to clip my waning mums, as the faded yellow color clashed with the poinsettia garden flag I hung just above it! Hard to live in the moment when the world's speeding past. Enjoy your Fall!

    Hi Laura,

Yes, I adore fall too! Our sky here is gray today, but I don't mind. I'm listening to Christmas music and catching up on reading my blog roll.

Your tablescape is just lovely! I especially love your centerpiece (gorgeous flowers) and the lace table-topper! It reminds me of a full-sized tablecloth that my MIL has.

The cake looks and sounds absolutely scrumptious — thanks for sharing the recipe. 🙂 BTW, I also love your dining table and those beautiful chairs. Everything looks just perfect, Laura. Have a nice weekend!

    Hugs,
