We Finally Hung The French Lantern

Remember the French lantern I created back in March from old chandelier parts?

It finally got hung.

I’m not going to lie. Mr. Décor was not too excited about this project for two reasons:

He felt that the lantern would not be bright enough.

The lantern is so bright it’s a challenge to get a good picture of it.

He also did not like the idea that if we moved, the lantern would come with us. Meaning he will eventually have to take it down again.

I told him that the key word in the above sentence was “IF” and until the time came that we did move shouldn’t we surround ourselves with things we loved even IF it required 20 minutes of his time. 20 minutes.

(If you suffer from a similar decorating standoff  I recommend you then take 20 minutes to bake his favorite cookies even though they will eventually be eaten. 🙂

The Duchess of Décor got her lantern hung.

I took these images in the early morning bright Arizona sun.

So you’ll just have to trust me that there is plenty of light at night.

Most of you wanted me to add some darker paint accents to the inside so I did. I also am going to do one more layer of glaze.

Happy.

    Laura,
I loved that lantern when you created it and wondered what happened to it. So glad it has found a spot in your lovely home. You are so correct, surround yourself with what you love. No one knows what tomorrow will bring.

It turned out fabulous and it's awesome over your dining table!! I'm so happy you got it hung. It looks like you're getting plenty of light from it and besides you don't want it too bright… we must create ambiance!

Oh, how gorgeous your lantern lamp is! I love that it has such Country French flair. I purchased a somewhat lantern style light fixture at our local Habitat Thrift Shop a month or two ago. It is now a shiny brass, but I am planning on painting it black or charcoal. My husband has not been very enthusiastic about it either. For now, it sits in a chair beside the china cabinet in my dining room(with a lot of other will some day be great things)! How embarrassing is that? It is a good thing we seldom use that room, I guess.
