I’m in San Luis Obispo this weekend. It’s been quite a few years since I toured the San Luis Obispo mission which was founded by Father Junipero Serra in 1772.
The church has an unusual “L” shaped design featuring a short and narrow nave as well as a secondary nave almost the same size on the right side of the altar. The layout of the belfry and vestibule can be found nowhere else among all the other California missions. It is truly a special place.
“if I delay, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth.” ~ 1 Timothy 3:15

I love the mission as I went to high school there. I have a great aunt buried in the wall near the back of the church so I always sat in that row.
