In Sweet Boy’s bathroom, there was a space above the towel bar that cried out for a bit of art. Perhaps A Seaside Shelf.
A Seaside Shelf
Mr. Decor was replacing part of our fencing and we were left with some nicely weathered boards.
I grabbed the miter box, saw, hammer and nails and created a shelf of sorts.
It’s hard to see, but I painted the outside edge “Glass Bottom Boat” by Martha Stewart.
I then googled “vintage shell images” and found a few prints that I loved. After printing the images out on cardstock I lined the back of the shelf in a sort of wallpaper fashion taking care to line up the center image.
I hung it above the hand towel and had Sweet Boy pick out a few favorite shells to display. Inexpensive and interactive artwork perfect for a young boy’s bathroom.

Love the Einstein quote! And your seaside shelf, of course. 😉
Here's another quote I love,
“Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift.
That's why it's called the present.”
Laura, may you continue to be blessed with MANY “presents” in your life! 🙂

this is a great idea. we saw a little shelf at goodwill the other day that reminded me of YOUR “blast from the 80's” shelf you featured a couple of weeks ago. it had shells glued into it, but what was SO FUNNY was that the shells were glued into the shapes of a tub, sink, and toilet complete with paper holder and towel bars. some miniaturist gone slightly awry, i'm afraid(though i suppose if one were into mermaids. . .)! we had a good giggle and i thought “laura would likely take this little shadow box home and make it beautiful.”
you've done it again!

I'm rocking and stalking! I've added VOTE to my daily to-do list. The world needs more beauty and your new show would certainly bring that. Whether or not you win, I'm proud of you for trying. Found you through Lisa at The Pennington Point and so glad I did.

I voted and voted! I spent some time perusing some of your other posts too. I am a wife, mother and grandmother first and foremost in my life. I got my masters in child psychology, but I have done interior design for my husband and his work for 28 years now. I agree with you whole heartedly, the Lord is the most fantastic designer, decorator, landscaper that ever could be. When we bring beauty to the world we bring joy. You should see my 5 year old granddaughter come to my house, get in the ribbon door and decorate. I should do a post on it. Right now my front porch has pink and green ribbons tied all over it. Grandma recognizes her creativity and leaves the decor up. Thanks for sharing your heart. God loves beauty.
