As most of you know, I have been on a bloggy break due to my in-laws visiting and the need to study for my upcoming finals. But I had to share this hilarious story, Shameless Hussy A Truly Funny Tail.
One of the cleaning tasks that I wanted to accomplish before my in-laws arrived was to scrub the back patio where Lil’ Mama had made her nest so we could once again enjoy the backyard.

Shameless Hussy A Truly Funny Tail
She spent the next three days rebuilding her nest in the exact same location. We decided to change her name from Lil’ Mama to Shameless Hussy. Mr. Decor checked the nest yesterday and found one egg. I guess this means…
There will be a Rocky II.

Aw do you miss your little birdie buddies? They were so cute!
All the best,
Allison
Hilarious, love the imagery you captured. She obviously thinks your home is prime real estate. Quite a compliment! Good luck on your exam 🙂
What a great story. Now you’ll have another nest to add to your collection.
I commented before when it was still a test post and just the picture! That is hilarious! I can’t believe she chirped you out! Birds are so smart! That is so funny that she came back. She loves you guys 🙂
All the best,
Allison
That is hilarious! Best of luck on your exams – I’m in the midst of some as well.

This was a great little story and it was relayed like a true story teller. I loved it. From now on you had best leave those bird nests alone. Who knows you might find yourself the heroine in an Alfred Hitchcock movie … remember … The Birds?
That is hysterical!! And for her to “know” you did it!! Great story.
That is pretty funny! Even without words, or hands to gesture, that bird sure got her point across! You didn’t really think that lovely outdoor area was for YOU to enjoy, did you?
MGM
I don’t blame her for being upset – I wouldn’t want to leave your house either 🙂
Good luck with your finals – one down for me and one to go.
We should celebrate next week when we’re all finished!
Lisa
What a sweet story! Glad to know she got it back together. Hope you’re having a great break!
funny story!!! also great photos. 🙂
LOL, I’m sure she was thinking, “What?? I have to start all over??”
You have a gift! What a wonderful story, told beautifully. I will never touch a nest til fall again, hee hee.
Blessings,
Amy
Awww, Laura, I love your hummingbird story. You tell a tale so well.
Looks like she ain’t going anywhere anytime soon!
How Funny! Well you can’t fool Mother Nature. 🙂 Congratulations on the new additions 🙂 LOL
~Liz
P.S. Good luck with the finals!
Ok Laura, that is tailarous. A bird that understands how to communicate with humans. And gets the message across. Fair warning: A broody female is not to be trifled with! So how do the nest and bird feathers match with the patio decor?
Happy Finals Finale! I remember the days – almost with longing – I wouldnt mind being that young again.
I know you are going to do well.
Keep us posted. The bloggy world awaits your further success.
How cool, another egg!
Hah-hah-hah!!! What a personality! What a gorgeous little lady she is, too!! A fun one! Thanks…
Looks like you’ll have another little one soon. Too funny!
Have a great weekend with your company.
*hugs*
What a precious story! She wanted to start another nesting cycle in the same place! When will you be able to use your patio?/
Oh Laura,
I loved that post what a funny little bird she is!!!! Anyone who doesn’t think that animals communicate just hasn’t spent enough time paying attention to them.
You are truly a kindred animal whispere.
Have a Lovely Day~
Alicia
I love that hummer story! And your hummingbird photos are incredible! Have fun sharing your patio this summer! Take lots of photos…
~Really Rainey~
Lol…..How cute!
This is so amazing, nature is incredible.
Congratulations!
Darlene
I guess Shameless Hussy likes the neighbourhood 🙂 Well, it could be worse — better hummingbirds living in your chandelier than a skunk living under the deck!! 🙂
Your line about being “chirped out” bu a bird made me laugh 🙂

This was just too cute. And the fact that she laid her egg in the rebuilt nest is amazing! What trust she had in you or maybe she thought your scolding was enough. What fun it would be to know what she really said…..
I am so glad you shared more tales about the hummies! What a treat to have such house guests, even though mama was a bit put out by all your fluffing! Now, another family to watch and leave the nest! So amazing…
Hope your studies are going well!
Happy May Day,

OMGosh! That is so funny! Poor lil’ hummingbird had to build a new nest! She had to hang on to that egg for 3 more days while she built the new one! What a cute story! 🙂
Oh, this is wonderful.. Gotta love that name.. Only one egg?
What a wonderful way to be scolded! 🙂
Thanks for sharing.
Laura, from what I’ve read they continue to return year after year to the same spot. That’s funny that she blessed you out! LOL! Glad she got her nest in order for Rocky II.
XO,
Sheila 🙂
