A Love of Buttons and Tufted Furniture

I grew up in a small town with one fabric store, Hart’s Fabrics on Plumas Street. Near the register in Hart’s was an old iron claw foot tub that was filled with buttons. Hundreds of thousands of buttons in every style, shape, and color imaginable. When I was really small I would crawl into the tub and bury myself in the buttons. As I got older I was content to select 5-10 of the prettiest buttons for purchase. I am sure that this led to A Love of Buttons and Tufted Furniture.

Isn’t this chair dreamy? So feminine.

On the other side of the coin are these tufted leather dining chairs. A great shape, not too masculine, a true classic.

This is definitely a statement piece. Both in color and in form.

A tufted headboard on a grand scale that provides a fresh, modern twist on a classic design.

But this true original is so inviting.

Another classic couch enlivened by vivid accessories.

This is a wonderful grouping with an oversized tufted ottoman.

I haven’t found my perfect piece yet, so I will be content to sift through my button collection.

Laura,Your post reminded me of a button tufted piece of furniture from my past. My beloved aunt Susie had a white leather button tufted headboard with a deep purple crush velvet bedspread. (What can I say, it was the 60’s!) It had a wonderful shape. I used to lie in it and call it my princess bed. Thanks for bringing back such a sweet memory, I haven’t thought about that bed for years.
