An Everyday Thanksgiving Table
It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is a little over two weeks away. I haven’t quite started setting up the table in our formal dining area. But I have added some seasonal touches in our kitchen nook. 
I found inspiration from a vintage tablecloth I recently scored at an estate sale.
The mid-century graphics are so cute and cheerful!
The tablecloth was intended to fit a small square card table but I just turned it on the diagonal to cover most of the tabletop.
We eat the majority of our meals here.
I generally change the tablecloth once a week and the napkins are switched out every few days.
Family Affair
The table setting is truly a family affair. The amber colored goblets and stoneware belonged to my mom, Nadine.
The silver plate was collected with green stamps in the 60’s by my great-grandmother, Lorena.
A Moveable Feast
Because the table does double duty as a craft and homework table the centerpiece needs to be able to be moved off quickly and easily.
Keeping everything grouped in a wooden box, built by Mr. Decor does the trick.
I like to tuck in seasonal delights. The flowers and greenery are arranged in small goblets of water.
The center is filled with produce. Although the apples and pears won’t last long!
Generally, on the weekends a few of my son’s friends also come to gather around the table. So I like to set out a few treats.
The teen guests are most appreciative and usually comment on the change in decor.
I recently won this cute teapot at a ladies tea I attended with my friend Nancy. It will soon be moving on to my daughter’s house.

That’s an adorable little teapot! You are like me in that the centerpiece has to be portable because the table has multiple functions. That’s a very pretty one and perfect for the season. And like me, you include things that bring your family back to the table, though they’ve long departed. I love that — it’s like having a bit of their spirit at hand. And pretty too.
We just got invited to Rick’s cousin’s for TG, so cooking to travel not the whole deal. I’m relieved, actually. With my art sale next week, and more tests on my foot and mobility issues, I’d much rather travel than be here. I never thought I’d say that!

Decorating at my house presents challenges since we have FOUR indoor cats, two of which are young and like to explore. They’ve been pretty good with most of my items with the exception of the houseplants. However, I still can’t really leave everything on the table or else they’d play with things. :O
I am hosting Thanksgiving as I pretty much have done year after year. This is the first year without Mom and she will be missed. I also will likely have Christmas items up before Thanksgiving just because I want to and I’m off the week of Thanksgiving, so I’d like to take my time getting those things ready and “cat proofed”, as best as I can. Ha.

Laura, your table is lovely. I always enjoy seeing vintage tablecloths and I have several. Since you are quite the seamstress, I will share this with you. When we lived in VA. there was a lady who custom made jackets from vintage tablecloths, such as yours and old jeans. The tablecloth was usually on the collar, along the shoulders, cuffs or pockets. They commanded quite the price, were sold in an upscale boutique, and were gorgeous.
I also love your centerpiece and your flatware collected with green stamps brought back memories – I used to paste them in the book for my mom.

The green stamp mention brought back a lot of memories for me also. I must have licked thousands of them for my Mom. We were poor, so getting something for “free” with the stamps was a big deal. Funny the things that stick in our minds.

You have the best ideas and designs. If I were your neighbor, I could get ideas and clues on how to take what I have and come up with a design that is cute and usable.
