I can’t believe that the One Room Challenge reveal week is already here! Here is the ORC Week 6 The Reveal of the Old Palm Beach Bathroom.
ORC Week 6 The Reveal of the Old Palm Beach Bathroom
This was the third time that I have participated in the challenge but it was not the charm.
Last fall I made over the family room.
This past spring I worked on our entry, living and dining room areas.
Before
Both of the previous spaces were quite large but all of the work flowed rather smoothly. Yet somehow our daughter’s tiny 5’ x 7’ bathroom was just fraught with problems. As I type this post we are STILL waiting on the delivery of a brass shower curtain rod and I will continue the search for a different mirror. But even so, this room is SO much better than it was a mere six weeks ago.
You may recall in week 1 when I shared the space. It had no natural light, jungle wallpaper and late 80’s fixtures.
During week 2 we ripped up the 30 year old linoleum to install mosaic tile flooring.
The third week had us pulling down the skull crushing, a light blocking cabinet and the gold and glass shower doors were also removed.
We thought we had solved the issue of the mirror that had too small of a frame in week 4.
But week 5 was really the doozy. We tried not one, not two, but THREE different ideas on the heavily textured mustard colored walls.
But finally, the dreary, dark space became light and bright.
After trying both wallpaper and stenciling we decided that the space simply needed white walls. We mixed two colors together that we had on hand. I decided to name the custom shade “Pearl Moon”.
The new pineapple light fixture is truly a scene stealer.
While the mosaic tile flooring is a treat for the feet.
Our daughter is truly happy with her new crystal and gold faucet that added a bit of pizazz to the sink and freshly painted vanity.
Accessories always make the room don’t you think?
Café Press created the Audubon flamingo shower curtain.
After a long, exhaustive search for just the right shower curtain rings, I finally made my own. I simply hot glued extra large pom poms, from Hobby Lobby, onto brass rings.
The art work is vintage Mexican feather art found in a thrift store.
Here is a close up.
A quick search on Ebay turned up two more vintage bird specimens that were bought for a song.
The coral colored towels were a steal at Tuesday Morning while the white Turkish towels came from Home Goods. The Papaya Guava soap and hand cream are from World Market.
The vintage rattan shelf was discovered on Etsy. The loving cup was an Anthro find last year as was the pineapple container. The “poppy” nail and lip color is Lilly Pulitzer for Target.
A big “Thank You” to Linda for organizing the One Room Challenge. Our daughter has been patiently waiting over a year to have her bathroom made over and this opportunity gave us just the push that we needed.
Best of all we came in well under our $500 budget.

Laura, this is so much fun! That shower curtain is adorable and the artwork goes so well with it. I think the white walls were a good call in a small space. Love that light fixture and I'm loving the brass.
I know your daughter is smiling ear to ear. 🙂
By the way, the pom pom throw you asked me about is from Target. Thanks for coming by bright and early this morning. Have a great day and rest a little.

Auntie Em says
LOVE IT!!! 🙂 I have to say, I wasn't sure where this one was going to go (NO pun intended) as I watched you reveal little snippets and the woes you were having. But its is a jewel! I love the sparkly brass and crystal with the pure whiteness of the textured walls (If you can't hide them, make them shine) and I think that is what ties this one together. It wouldn't look nearly as awesome with freshly smoothed out walls. The coral with the white and rattan are perfect and I LOVE the shower curtain.
I have never seen feather art but how mid century awesome can you get!
Thank you for sharing your journey to get this one completed. I love the process and certainly love the results! 🙂
