Becoming Jane A Complete 19th Century Regency Costume for Under $10
I have been teasing you long enough. Today, I am finally revealing Becoming Jane A Complete 19th Century Regency Costume for Under $10.
As you can see the upcycled embroidered tablecloth made the perfect skirt overlay.
You really notice the scallop edging in a side view.
It also created the perfect train.
Here is a close-up of the lovely detail and embroidery.
Recycled lace from antique pillowcase edging accents the bottom of the narrow underskirt and sleeves.
The ladies’ mid-length cotton gloves were once worn by my mother, Karen, in the 1960s.
The simple black ballet flats I often wear were also appropriate for this era.
All in all this ensemble made for a lovely and comfortable promenade in the park. I received several waves and smiles.

Lovely work! I used to do some theatrical costume design from time to time, and I think you captured the period beautifully. That periwinkle color is so charming. Using a tablecloth to get that embroidered detail was very clever.
