I am ready to begin decorating the sunroom. Right now it’s feeling a bit empty and white. Here is a collection of Sunroom Décor Ideas.
Sunroom Décor Ideas
The sunroom sits just right off of our living room. It is a long and narrow bowling alley of a space. It measures just 11’ 7” by 16’ 9”.
Indeed if you stand at the front door you can see all the way to the back door.
There are nice features in the area~ hardwood floors, crown molding and plantation shutters on the tall windows.
Now that the living room has been decorated I need to work on the sunroom as it is somewhat of an extension of the space. As you peek in you can see up that until now I have just placed one lone chair and ottoman in the space and hung a clock in the wall.
The former owners used the space as an exercise room. They created an accent wall with a dark tan paint color.
This color was carried to the ceiling and the stairwell bump out. This paint treatment made the bump out even more noticeable. I wanted it to disappear.
A Fresh Start
So we started preparing the room. You may remember we had to replace the back door because it was completely rotted through.
Mr. Décor also addressed the electrical issues in the room. The previous owners had a pattern of when they had an electrical issue rather than solve the problem they would just run more cable.
So the structural issues have been taken care of. The room (to include the ceiling) has received two coats of “Cottage White”.
At this moment the clock, chair and our large entertainment center (seen here in our previous home) are the only pieces in the room.
The room has great light which makes it a perfect place for reading. But we’ve taken to calling the space the “Son Room.” Sweet Guy hangs out in the space most often, with his friends, playing video games. It’s nice because it’s close to the kitchen where I can casually monitor the conversation. #helicoptermom
For this reason, I feel as if the room should be casual and well, fun.
Although I don’t think I will be hanging a swing, I do like the idea of a daybed in the space.
Lovely Spaces
Sweet Guy has asked for some color. He’s leaning towards red. But I will probably pair it with turquoise…
…so that the sunroom relates to the living room, where two of these chairs sit.
I headed off to my go-to for inspiration, Pinterest. The experience turned out to be like a slowly deflating balloon. There were not many offerings. But I did see this image and well, I have the creamy chair, ottoman, small round table and a few yellow confit pots.
I like the balance of light and bright in this space.
Tipping my hat to some of the cute sunrooms in blog land. I adore Kelly’s space at Eclectically Vintage.
I always love the seasonal changes Susan makes at Between Naps on the Porch.
Kim from Savvy Southern Style always captures my French fancy.
Julia from Hooked on Houses has created a truly sunny space.
Conservatories
I’ll leave you with a few truly dreamy conservatory spaces.
If you have a favorite sunroom please share, I’d love to see it.
Have a sunny day!

I love that room with the swing. I don't think I have any sunrooms in my pinterest, because I don't have a sunroom in this house, so I can't help there. I do however love the idea of the white and turquoise. It would be really cheerful, which I think a sunroom should be 🙂

Love that chair and ottoman, it is absolutely stunning and of course I adore your entertainment center. It is really a treasure. Can't wait to see what you do.

I love all of your inspiration pictures. I don't have a sunroom but we have a sort of screened in little guest house at the lake. I used neutrals with pops of colors from nature…green, blue and some deep red in the cushions for contrast. I do love your turquoise ideas and the wood slatted ceiling is on my inspiration list!
Good luck!

This is so much fun! I'm excited to follow along Laura, love all your inspirations. My ultimate favorite sunroom is Kim's over at Savvy Southern Style!

I love your chair and footstool/ottoman. And I particularly like the last image, although it's not really suitable for a Son's room. All the plants make it feel like a transition room between outdoors and in. No sunroom in our home.

I can't wait to see your finished sun room.
Did you know that according to Feng Shui it isn't good to have the front door and back door lined up? You are supposed to fix it by putting a shiny crystal or use plants to hold the good shui. 🙂

It will be a great space to tie in with the living room!
