When I returned from my week-long trip to Minnesota I found that the heat had caught up with most of my winter flowers. How does your garden grow?

My pretty pansies were a wilted mess. All of the pots needed to be refreshed for the summer.
I found several lovely things in the nursery. My gardener approved of all the choices.
Of course, we all know that good help is hard to find. I caught the gardener lounging about and ended up doing all the work myself.
In a week or two we should have a profusion of blooms. Nectar is of the utmost of importance as there are now two more mouths to feed at the Decor to Adore manor.
That Rudi left you with the planting, didn't he???
I have tons of black eyed Susans that I am dividing and moving into new areas. They seem to stand up to our dry, hot summers well.
Tell Rudi he looks like a great supervisor!

As you've seen on my past blogs, I pretty much have a yard full of perennial gardens. Everything just comes up splendidly year after year, no worries, and new free plants for other areas of the yard once I divide them up. Right now everything is lush and blooming – Stella D'ora lilies, black eyed susans, purple coneflowers, Oriental and red poppies, the peonies are done now, cornflowers, zinnias are growing, roses, hostas getting ready to bloom, hollyhocks getting ready, foxglove, delphiniums, Irises are done, coreopsis beginning, etc., etc.
Awwwwwww, Rudi! And look at those cute baby birds! This post just makes me smile, Laura. 🙂

In a few days after the Show me your crown experience, I will post what I have been planting with the little second graders! They are so cute. This was a lovely post, and I can relate to how the flowers get sad when I leave for a retreat, etc. Blessings dear Laura.
I do hope your plants come back alive. We are the opposite here. Too much rain. Our weekend was nice and sunny, but the rains are coming back.
This year I am just dividing most of my plants and flowers.
Did get some new butterfly bushe that we planted in early spring.

I have found that plants wait for no one, but you had some very cute help 🙂 We had a family of robins in our yard this year as we do most years. It's fun to watch them.
What? You didn't expect him to help did you….he's the “supervisor'! I can't wait to see how the plantings turn out. And the picture of the little birds is so precious! I'd be checking on them every 15 minutes and never get anything done!

The little ones are adorable. All four of ours left the nest on Thursday of last week. They were getting so fat and climbing all over each other. The nest is still there waiting for the next visitors 🙂

We don't have a yard, so we are growing some vegetables in a container garden, and I have one miniature rose on our front porch. 🙂
I thought I was all done planting, but now that the spring flowers are done, my foundation plants need color. I think I will get some wave petunias.

Oh Laura, I feel like I've been planting non-stop! I extended the garden about 14 feet, and did some curves – so part of it is about 6' wide, and others are about 2' wide. It was backbreaking work – and I have the blisters to prove it! Thankfully – we're ALMOST done. I have a few more plants to put in the ground, and all of my summer blooming bulbs now that the weather is nice enough to plant them with fear of rotting, and I should be set to go. “SHOULD BE!” LOL! I can't help myself from buying new plants even though I have absolutely no where to put them. Love your choices, and feel free to send your gardener over to help me anytime! 🙂
I planted zucchini and I think I might even have a little harvest! I can't wait. Those little burdies are so sweet. Just love them! : )

I planted all seed this year–pansies, sunflowers which I am trying for the first time, marigolds who seeds I saved from last year's flowers & one other whose name I can't remember at the moment!

Your gardener reminds me of the pooch we had while I was growing up. He was a daschund/beagle mix. His name was Oscar Meyer. But we called him Oskie.
I've just replaced my pansies as well — I always hate to see them go.

Your helper is adorable! I had a miniature, long-haired dachshund as a kid. They're great dogs.
