In a society filled with youthful images today, I bring you Saturday Smiles The Grand Dame.
Saturday Smiles The Grand Dame
I was struck by the beautiful simplicity of The Snow Queen Mother. Photographer Alexandra Lee has captured her grandmother in all her glory.
Have you inherited your grandmother’s silver collection? I know exactly what you can do with it. Grace Mitchell’s Spoon Room is pure whimsy at it’s finest.
I think it’s no secret that Britain’s favorite grandmother is Queen Elizabeth. She truly embodies Proverbs 16:31, Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous life.
I truly loved Season 2 of The Crown. It made me appreciate the sacrifices that Elizabeth II has had to make in her life to serve her country. I had to view each episode of the series twice. Once for the storyline and secondly for the amazing interiors. You can read more about the elaborate set design for Season II HERE and HERE. My friend Joni wrote a fabulously detailed post on Season I.
I am well on my way to becoming Mrs. Broadbent. Minus the risque magazine clippings.
Are you on your way to becoming a Grand Dame?

I don’t quite know what to say about Mrs. Broadbent except maybe…she’s quite a broad! She has me rethinking my decor, that’s for sure.

I must be getting old. I looked at the spoon room and thought what a lot of places to dust! lol
I would certainly have the cluttered look of Mrs Broadbents house if it wasn’t for cleaning. I learned I would rather spend my time with people than looking after things so I cleaned up a lot of the clutter. But I love the look of the homes like hers. You could spend days wandering around looking at all the wonderful things and would love to know their story.
Thank you for sharing your interesting post. Hope you enjoy your weekend! 🙂

The photo’s of The Snow Queen Mother and her story were so moving to me. That’s what art is supposed to do, move us on a level of emotion that is almost impossible to express. Thank you so much for introducing this artist to us and for your lovely post! Hope you are having a great weekend!

The spoon room is fabulous! It is so unique and just goes to show that every house doe not have to be white or gray and look like an instagram image.
As for the Snow Queen, I love this! I have read that the older you get the more invisible you are to society, that is so sad. I wrote on my Friday post about a modeling agency that only hires people over 45 and the ones they showed were aging naturally, with wrinkles(god forbid), grey hair and they looked great!
Have a wonderful week!

Thank you for sharing The Snow Queen – I shared the link with my daughter Sarah who photographs in a similar style. Makes me think of my Mom (nearly 88) who has suffered through numerous strokes and TIAs and has severe dementia on account of those events. As you know, she lives at home next door with Dad and it’s a very trying time indeed.
I hope to be a Grand Dame however, you’ll never see my hair silver or grey as I prefer my blond and plan to keep it that way so long as I have my mind about me. (My Mom was insistent on blond always too well into her 80s and it’s only in the past year where that became an impossible task that she has gone grey and I can’t help but think how she would hate that and would have never stood for this, had her mind remained intact).
