My Vintage Christmas “Fantle”

My Christmas decorating seems to be slow going this year. The decorating elves are welcome to show up at any time. But here is My Vintage Christmas “Fantle”.

mantle 027

My Vintage Christmas “Fantle”

As we live in Phoenix there isn’t much of a call for a fireplace or a mantle for that matter. I am once again improvising with a faux mantle or “fantle” by using the center of my large entertainment center.

My Vintage Christmas “Fantle”

The vintage theme is courtesy of my husbands wish for a Christmas like those he knew in his childhood. I have assembled quite a cute cast of characters: the jolly snowman belonged to my Great Grandmother Bradley, the reindeer is from my childhood and the wee Santa in the background is from the 1930’s.

Vintage Christmas decor

There is a 1960’s Santa, a tree of elves that belonged to my mother Karen and a frosted elf that belonged to Grandma Mary.

Vintage Christmas decor

I also strung up some vintage and antique garland.

Vintage Christmas decor

In the center are some vintage sugar bells.

Vintage Christmas decor

A few of my favorite old ornaments balance on crystal candlestick pedestals. The entire vignette is swirled with angel hair. (You can find it at Hobby Lobby.)

Vintage Christmas decor

I still need to address the shelves on either side of the tv, wrap several gifts, get started on the baking…

Yoohoo ~decorating elves?

That is so cute! I was wishing I could do a vintage Christmas too. But to change everything would be to expensive…so for now it will have to be my normal stuff.

    Blessings,
    Amy Jo

I haven't seen angel hair in years and years, Laura! It reminds me of my dad. I just might have to hop over to Hobby Lobby and grab some. Love your vintage ornaments, too.

Love your pretty vintage ornaments…although it pains me to call them vintage since I grew up with similar ones in our home. lol
The sugar bells are so pretty. I love your solution to no mantle. I don't have one either (fireplaces are too messy and drafty for me, even with our cold temperatures) but I do have shelves built in all around the room and lots of places to hold all those Christmas treasures.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful display! 🙂

    Laura,
Your shelf is a miniature, whimsical journey to a simpler time. Is there a Red Ryder BB Gun on Mr Decor's Christmas list? 🙂

Charming in every imaginable way. A few Christmas' ago a vintage elf doll absolutely stole the show in a family photo. It was peeking out from behind the Christmas tree. It was a riot in the photo. Thanks for entering my giveaway. I will be a new follower here as well!

That just gave me chills of happy memories as a child! My parents and my aunt had so many items just like these. We were all supposed to get some but the executor of the estate has kept them all. She said she didn't want to mail them. I doubt I will ever get them but your pictures brought me such happy memories.
