Storybook Cottage 2018 Christmas Kitchen

Welcome to the Storybook Cottage 2018 Christmas Kitchen. I am so happy to be participating in the Kitchen Decorating hop and is hosted by Tammy of Pink Peppermint Design.

If you are coming from Haneen’s Haven thank you so much for visiting. Her black and gold touches are SO glamorous!

A Little Cabinet Hutch

Recently Mr. Decor cut out a section of our old cabinet doors so that glass fronts could be created.

I couldn’t wait to decorate the interior.

Because this to me represents Christmas past.

I have my great-grandmother Lenora’s teapot and teacups belonging to her daughter, my Grandma Mary.

Decor To Adore holiday 2018

On my father’s, there is the Bavarian china that belonged to my Great Grandma Emma and was passed on to me by dear Grandma Jingles.

The kitchen is cottage sized but full of good things.

Hearth and Home

Would you like a cup of pink peppermint cocoa?

Storybook Cottage 2018 Christmas Kitchen

It’s yummy! So the recipe will be shared in an upcoming post.

I collect antique French copper and love to display it at Christmastime.

You can read how the pot rack was made for less than $10 HERE.

Gingerbread Houses

This year’s kitchen tablescape was inspired by wee gingerbread houses decorated by each member of our family.

Because they do look good enough to eat!

Red (also called pink) transferware that we collected while stationed in Germany is a family favorite.

A simple antique linen runner is topped with beaded garland and my mother Karen’s old Shiny Brite ornaments.

O Christmas Tree

The sparkle and shine help lead the eye to the wee tree in the bay window.

Storybook Cottage 2018 Christmas Kitchen

It was placed in an antique German wagon for height.

You can find a similar white tree HERE.

Storybook Cottage 2018 Christmas Kitchen

A tree skirt didn’t look quite right so I improvised with piling on beaded garland to cover the base.

The tree is topped with a vintage-inspired corsage I created in 2010 for #givingtuesday. You can see this year’s limited edition fundraising ornaments HERE.

We have been enjoying the Christmas magic the kitchen tree brings at dinnertime.

The directions for the Victorian-inspired table runner are HERE.

I hope you have enjoyed this year’s Christmas kitchen. The theme changes every year. You can view past Christmas kitchens under the Home Tours tab.

Your kitchen takes my breath away. It’s like stepping into a magical, happy land of pink peppermints, white chocolate, gumdrops and candy canes! So pretty — love the pink and white and the gingerbread houses are just the best! I love the decorating houses idea! A fun family thing — when the Baby Grands are a little bigger, we may have to add this to our tradition list. Yes, magical is the word. Bravo! And Merry!

I love the pink/red transferware. The mini gingerbread houses too. The pink means you can use them for Valentine’s Day, too!

It all looks so beautiful, Laura!! 🙂 Nice work; I love it all.
I might be adding a few items to my current display, but have to be ever mindful of our four cats who would be into much of it. 🙂
    Blessings,

Your Christmas decorations are so perfect for a Storybook Cottage! Love all the pink and vintage china.
I wanted to tell you about an exhibit I just read about that will be at the Dallas Museum of Art from May 19 – Sept. 1. It’s called Dior: From Paris to the World and features over 100 haute couture dresses & accessories. You can read more about it at Dmagazine.com. Sounds so very exciting!

What a lovely setting Laura, and peppermint is my favorite! Your kitchen and dining area is indeed magical with all the soft pink touches. I would love your red/pink transfer ware as I have been looking for some myself. I have a few other colors but yours are perfect.
Your pretty tree in the window makes your dinner a much more pleasant affair. Great job!

WOW, so lovely, as always! I’m a pink girl myself:) I admire your glass cabinet styling. If I tried doing that in our one kitchen cabinet with glass front I wouldn’t know what to do with all the stuff that’s in it every day lol I’m also a shiny brite and family ornament collector so I love just about evrything in your kitchen! The feather tree in the wagon is fabulous. Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm! xo Kathleen

Laura, you never cease to amaze me. What an enchanted space you’ve created in your kitchen. Thank you for giving us a peek into your lovely home! It’s different from anything else I’ve seen this year. I love all the colors you’ve used! Everything complements the transferware beautifully.

And thanks for joining the Grace at Home party. I’m featuring you this week!

I absolutely love this, Laura! I love pink, too, and have been known to decorate my bedrooms with all pink (like last year) at Christmas. Loved your Laura Ingalls Christmas theme, too-adorable! Wish I would have thought up that theme when my girl was little!
