Welcome to the 2016 Christmas Home Tour part I. If you are coming over from Sarah’s stunning home at Life on Virginia Street welcome to Decor To Adore!
This is the third year I have participated in the home tours hosted by my dear friend Marty of A Stroll Thru Life. Each year I try to design a fresh look by using existing Christmas décor paired with new DIYs.
This year I decided to create a vintage pastel pink and aqua theme in the formal living spaces at Storybook Cottage.
Christmas Home Tour 2016 Part I
The entry at Storybook Cottage is small and sweet.
I made the vintage Shiny Brite wreath a few years ago. It moves to a new location every year.
I am totally smitten with this gold glitter vintage Santa. He joins the Putz houses I’ve made over the years.
The Dining Area
I spent several hours creating this felt “Weiner Wonderland” table runner.
It brings a smile to everyone who sees it.
The crystal candlestick and aqua candles add an elegant touch.
The sequined runner glistens in both sun and candlelight.
The Entry
Across the way is the entry.
I made the vintage Shiny Brite wreath a few years ago. It moves to a new location every year.
I am totally smitten with this gold glitter vintage Santa. He joins the Putz houses I’ve made over the years.
The Mantel
Over on the mantel tinsel trees sparkle and shine.
I shared how I made the $2 Snowman Garland just last week.
The mantel is reflected in the bar cart mirror.
You can easily make your own drink stirrers to match any color theme.
Let it snow!
O Christmas Tree
Of course, the star of the show is the Christmas tree which aptly has a star on top.
The star tree topper was made a few years ago.
But I finished this new tree skirt just last week.
The Santa detail makes me smile. A Blue Christmas indeed. For details go HERE.
I hope you have enjoyed this years Christmas tour. Be sure to head next to Haneen’s Haven. Her lovely home is one you don’t want to miss.
You can see our Cozy Christmas Bedroom Tour HERE.
Then starting next week, December 12th through the 24th, please join me for a “Little House Christmas”.

It's beautiful Laura! I enjoyed the fresh colors and the whimsical details!
Oh Laura I just love all the pretty blues and pinks. And your wiener table runner and the tree skirt you created are just darling. Your home looks so whimsical and delightful. Wishing you a wonderful holiday season!
XO Barbara
How fun is this? Love the colors! Merry Christmas
Hi Laura, Oh WOW this is stunning. I am really loving the blue and pink theme and the Wiener Wonderland is so fun. Your talents just take you over the moon my friend and I love it all. I really have to go back and enjoy it all again.
Love your tree skirt and that mantel snowman garland is so cute with the tinsel trees. Beautifully done!! Have fun this week in our tour and Merry Christmas xo
I was waiting for a dachshund to appear! I had one for 17 wonderful years and it is still my favorite breed. Right now I have a rescue who is part chihuahua, part dachsie and part jack russell. Regarding your shiny-brite wreath, I collect shiny-brites too and have quite a few that are badly scatched or missing patches of paint. Did you use glue to attach them permanently to your wreath or wire?
Hi MEM I hope you check back here. Since you are listed as a “no reply blogger” I have no way of contacting you. 🙁
I used a styrofoam wreath base and a hot glue gun. The styrofoam actually “melts” a bit when the hot glue is applied and creats a small hole that the top of the ornament then securely attaches into with the glue.
Once the wreath was finished I then wired it to the white fir wreath.
Yes, we love our doxies here at Storybook Cottage. We also have a short haired red. Both
boys will be featured in Wednesdays post. 🙂 They truly are a wonderful breed.
You always do such unique and beautiful crafts for each season and especially for Christmas. I love your tablerunner, how fabulous is that and the tree skirt is gorgeous too. Your home looks beautiful. Thanks so much for joining the tours, you home is always one of my favorites.

Oh wow so much goodness! Gotta love the Franz photo bomb near the end! A Wiener Wonderland indeed! Beautiful job on the table runner and tree skirt Laura. I have always been a traditionalist with Christmas colors, but I believe you have converted me!! It is simply all lovely and delicious. You are truly amazing. Ann
Very nice.
Laura, I love a pink and aqua combo! Everything is just stunning. Oh my, that doggie runner made me smile big time! And your wreath and star topper are gorgeous! I made a wreath this year. OH Laura, what total fun and yes I am smiling smiling! Turquoise and pink, swoon, and that dachshund runner is adorable! The vignette on the sideboard is too cute for words and I am crushing on the ornament filled wreath! It is all so refreshing, different and utterly delightful!
Jenna
Well, this pastel blue and felt dachshunds and pink and white and teal is just Christmas heaven. I don't know where you find the time to get this all done. There aren't enough hours in the day. I know you said some of these treasures you made other years, but my gosh the work (albeit delightful, creative work) involved. You are Martha Stewart. Are you hiding a staff of eight back there somewhere? Everything is so delightful. I am in awe. ~Ginene
oh laura, how fun is your festive color choices this year. love it and the dog on the runner is the best! dinner parties must be so fun at your house. happy holidays!
Laura, it's a treat to see Storybook Cottage dressed for the holidays. I admire that you make these lovely decorations for your home. I was a child of the 50s, and felt and sequin stockings and tree skirts were the fashion. I still have my pink Christmas stocking that my aunt made for me when I was a small child. These little works of art are heirlooms, and I know your tree skirt and table runner will become family heirlooms too. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home.
LOVE the colors of you of your Christmas decor! The table runner is so darling! Your home is lovely for Christmas.

Oh Laura, the table runner and tree skirt are fabulous! They remind me of the skirt my mom is wearing in the photo on a blog post or two ago! The Christmas Skirt. A tradition.
Well, your blog has never been better named. Your Decor to Adore is adorable. I love the pastel — it looks and works so well in your home. The tree is dazzling and I love the table and the drinks station. Like you, you have a love for the bottlebrush tinsel trees. I love every single detail here and just wish I could pop over for a sip of something and savor your wonderful decorations in person!
Laura, I love the felt runner and tree skirt so much. The interactive dog is too cute! Such a beautiful home. Love all of your aqua and pink!
