Isn’t the Target $1 spot wonderful? A few weeks ago I spotted some tiny paper valentine baskets on the bottom shelf. My mind thought that they were cute but could possibly be made cuter. I transformed them into A Valentine Bon Bon Basket.
A Valentine Bon Bon Basket
I purchased two packages of the baskets, each a different design. I also found some darling paper cupcake liners that I planned on using to line the baskets.
Once home I dug through my supplies and found crepe paper, tissue garland, vintage treasures, millenary and velvet.
I played around with the crepe paper and decided it should be ruffled. I used a simple wide stitch on my sewing machine and then just gathered and gathered and gathered….
A hot glue gun is ever so handy to quickly attach ruffles and assorted bits of bliss.
The cupcake liners were placed in the basket and then filled with red hots and conversation hearts.
While I do like this creation I decided to go one step further. On Wednesday I will show you how to make the second half of a this Valentine “topiary”. It too is delightfully edible.
Happy hearts!
Laura

These are just tooooo cute! You are so clever!
What can I say? Adorable! I love the embellishments, and know that NEVER would I have thought, looking at those, “Wow, I could ADD cute stuff and make those wonderful!”
But YOU have done so.
My Redhead-girl shall NOT see these, or we will be back at Target(she's got American girl doll-itis, and these are just the right size!)buying and attempting to decorate mini boxes. (smile)
I hope your Monday is blessed!

You did a great job! Darling as can be.
Wow! You did an amazing job on those. They are beautiful! I love the Target bins too.
How cute. My girls have been into crafting, especially the 6 year old. We made the skewer and washi tape arrows from mcmasterandstorm.blogspot.com
and now she is ready for something else. Going to have to do something like this – she would love it.
I just love how you can pull ordinary things out of the dollar bin and turn them into clever creations! These are so cute.
I need to go to Target & check out that dollar bin :). Your finished product looks way too chic to have come from such a humble spot!
How adorable! I love the Target dollar section, too. You really raised the bar, though – your Valentine's boxes are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing.
Hi Laura,
Very SWEET!!! Thanks for sharing this idea. I hope you are doing better…
Warmly,

These are all adorable! Thanks for showing the possibilities. I remember when I was in 5th grade my Mother ruffled crepe paper and decorated a Valentine's day box for class.
You are so adorable!
You are fabulous! the feelings you have brought out in me are varied; jealousy at your creativity nobody could have done a more joyous collection. I mean it, really! Happiness at the sheer richness of the colors and angst, because I haven't done anything yet for my hubby. Thanks for posting this precious endeavor.
Boy did I gush.

How simple and fun! Keeping a craft supply and discovering such gems in the dollar bin really make for a creative afternoon. Thanks for the great inspiration!
These are so cute! I love the crepe paper ruffle. I can remember my mom stitching crepe paper by hand to gather it for trims. Love your sweet little embellishments.
Thank you for sharing this idea! 🙂

You always create the cutest little treasures! I love these!
You are rocking my socks with this. I wouldn't have known to stitch the crepe paper to make ruffles. How in the world do you just know stuff like that? I love them.
WOW! What a great idea and execution! They're simply beautiful!
